I have a confession. I am a total sucker for a good plaid dress this time of year. Today I’m keeping this post short and sweet with a roundup of my favorite plaid dresses for fall.
SHOP MY OUTFIT: JONATHAN SIMKHAI PLAID DRESS | BLACK LOAFERS (SIMILAR HERE AND HERE) | SHEER ANKLE SOCKS | BLACK BAG | BELT (SIMILAR HERE)
I found this Jonathan Simkhai plaid dress back in August and snatched it up super quick. Honestly, I wasn’t really in the fall mood when I bought it, so when it arrived, I let it hang in my closet for a few days before I decided to commit to it. I’m so glad I kept it.
The length is fun and flirty without being so short I can’t sit. And the sleeves – well – apparently, I’m a sucker for puffy sleeves, too.
I belted this plaid dress, but it has a straight fit and looks just as cute without a belt.
Once the cooler temperatures come, I’ll add some tights and tall boot with this dress, but for now I embraced the loafer trend (see How to Wear Chunky Loafers) and wore my shoes with some sheer ankle socks.
For me, when I purchase more expensive pieces, I make sure that the item can match more than one color palette and a variety of things I already have in my closet. Since this dress is black and brown, you can wear it with black or brown accessories.
In this post, I opted for black, but I tried this with my trusty cognac tall boots (another splurge that works with many items with my closet) and I love it SO much.
SIZE NOTE: I am a size 4/6 and got a small in this dress. I think it runs true to size.
Here are a handful of other plaid dresses that caught my eye. Click directly on the dress you like and a new window will open to shop it.
