It’s time to stow away your winter bags, warm weather is officially here! That means color and lightweight textures. Today I’m rounding up 8 fun summer purses that’ll you’ll want to grab again and again for your warm-weather parties and activities.
During fall and winter, I’m much more of a traditionalist when it comes to bags. I often wear only black leather purses because they match my moodier clothes and can also hold up in inclement weather. But for a spring or summer bag, I lean into lighter materials, texture, and colors.
8 Fun Summer Purses
A Black Summer Bag
You don’t need to completely abandon black outfits or black purses in the summer. In fact, I wear a lot of black in the summer.
Find a black woven purse or black straw purse; these materials are seasonally appropriate and won’t look too heavy against lightweight summer dresses or outfits.
I love the circular shape of this black woven bag; it also comes with a crossbody strap if you prefer.
An Everyday, Goes-With-Everything Bag
I’m kind of terrible at swapping out my bags. I like to have an everyday purse that matches with anything so I can get out the door quickly and still look put together.
This brown purse has everything I love about a summer bag: a neutral brown shade, woven details, and can be worn during the day or night.
It looks super cute with a dress (see this post) but also works with jeans and a t-shirt.
The Perfect Straw Tote Bag
If you’re looking for a straw tote bag for the beach or a trip to the farmer’s market, this is it. It’s large enough to store whatever you have (like towels or farm fresh produce), and it’s super chic.
Bonus points for adding a cute little bandana on the handle like the photo here.
An Essential Summer Travel Tote Bag
If you’re traveling abroad this summer, I recommend this leather tote. Okay, so it’s not necessarily the most fun, but it’s practical.
I bought this bag for a trip to London and wore it every day; it’s big enough to store a camera, water, or any tiny things you may pick up on your day exploring, but most importantly, it has a zipper to prevent pickpocket swipes that Europe is known for. (I also used this as a personal item on the plane as it fits my laptop.)
