Hi there! Since it’s almost Memorial Day and Matt and I will be spending our summer days at home, we decided to finally put the finishing touches on our backyard patio. Read on to shop our backyard patio furniture, accents, and outdoor dining pieces.
Our yard is tiny but functional, and we’ve broken it up into two sections: a backyard patio space and a deck. If you scroll to the bottom of this post, you’ll see a big old collage to shop everything on our deck and backyard patio.
When we moved in, my dad helped lower the height of our deck so that we had a little more privacy for outdoor dining. We also took this as an opportunity to upgrade the floor of the deck to Trek Deck while keeping the original wood frame. Brown and gray aren’t your typical color combinations, but I love it.
We have a lot of gray tones in our home and I wanted to make sure that our deck felt like an extension of our indoor space. So, we purchased this concrete outdoor dining table from West Elm and it’s still one of my favorite pieces. To add some color to our backyard, we went for cherry red metal dining chairs.
On the opposite corner, we added an armchair and small side table. This exact chair is part of a set, but the set felt crowded in this space so we just kept one. The set keeps going in and out of stock (shop it here) and a much more affordable version of this West Elm chair.
Our Tiled Backyard Patio
Nearly two years ago we removed the ugliest orange concrete from our backyard and replaced it with more modern, hexagon tile. This was one of my favorite home projects because it totally changed the look of our yard.
We furnished this backyard patio space with chaise lounges for outdoor reading, then added a conversation nook in the corner with a loveseat and two gray Acapulco chairs. At the very end of last summer, I found this fire pit on a random trip to Target. Two of the nicest team members helped me get it into the back of my SUV by taking the whole thing out of the box so it would fit in my trunk! It’s for sure my most spontaneous Target purchase.
I really wanted this space to feel like a mini resort, so added in some succulents in various planters and mismatched tables. I never like things to be too matchy-matchy, so we stuck to a very basic color palette of grays, white, and black to bring this space to life.
Our Tabletop Dining Set
This year I finally upgraded our outdoor place settings to make it feel a little more aligned with the rest of our backyard patio aesthetic. These melamine plates from Crate and Barrel are bold with the print, but still minimal thanks to classic black and white. The woven placemats add a nice earthy contrast, too.
It’s little touches that make an outdoor dining space special, from layering a salad plate over a dinner plate to lighting a candle for a centerpiece. Los Angeles has been getting mosquitos lately and so this citronella candle acts as both décor and bug repellent for stress-free eating.
My carafe is also great for outside since it has a cork stopper to prevent any bugs from getting stuck inside of your water. The citronella candle, carafe, and these beautiful wooden serving utensils are all from Target; they’re my go-to for amazing outdoor accents.
We have one last spot in our backyard that we’re currently planning on updating, so stay tuned for that project and the big reveal!
