Well friends, just like all good things, my tour of what I wore to New York Fashion Week must come to an end. And personally, I saved the best for last! It was gray and cold in NYC, but I brought a punch of spring to the streets with this super fun neon green dress.
- WHEN: NYFW Day 3
- WHAT: Mara Hoffman Dress, Gap Coat, Adidas Sneakers, Marc Jacobs Bag, Gucci Sunglasses
- WHERE: Backstage with Brock Collection and the first and last sit-down lunch of my trip
In case you may have missed the memo, neon is a HUGE trend for spring. And when you think about it, it’s kind of the perfect trend for this season. I mean, what’s better to perk up a rainy day or mediocre weather than with happy neon? It’s an instant mood elevator, I promise.
THE OUTFIT
This Mara Hoffman neon green dress caught my eye immediately. It’s sheer, but there’s a cotton slip under it to keep you covered. You can’t tell in these photos since my coat is on, but the sleeves are slightly balloon shaped with a button detail. And this high neck! Yes please! I think this would look so chic without a coat and some simple white strappy sandals. The cut is classic, but the bright green is super modern.
Obviously, it was way to freezing to wear this dress alone in NYC. I figured, “Why quit now with the color?” and paired it with this lavender wool coat from Gap. This was such a major find – a lavender coat appearing to me ON SALE right when I needed it? Fate. (I love this coat for a chilly spring day with jeans and a white t-shirt. Scoop this one up, friends!)
THE ACCESSORIES
Let’s chat accessories. The sneakers! The bag! The sunnies! All equal part supporting actors for this outfit in their own special way.
White sneakers – These Adidas sneakers are a collaboration with Stella McCartney and come with the tie dye laces (and white ones). Needless to say, this was the perfect time to wear these for their first outing. If you look closely, you’ll notice that the three stripes on the side of the shoe are actually made from tiny rainbow stars. They’re different than your typical Golden Goose sneakers but still classic if you switch to the white laces.
White bag – I love this bag; it’s small but still fits the essentials. I usually save this bag for casual outfits because the nylon strap lends itself to a sportier feel. The all-white is super fresh and a pop for spring, so it worked here because of my sneakers.
Rainbow Sunglasses – I call these my Elton John sunglasses. They’re by Gucci so not cheap, and I was worried I wouldn’t wear them a lot due to the color. But my instinct told me to pull the trigger and shockingly I’ve worn them a lot more than I ever thought I would. Sometimes you just have to ditch the sensible purchase for a totally crazy one that sparks joy. (They’re on sale!)
That wraps up another Fashion Week! Thanks for following along with my outfits.
