Although denim has been a staple for all seasons, for many years, spring runway shows displayed a resurgence of the fabric beyond just basic jeans. As I’ve been browsing the internet for spring fashion, I’ve noticed one particular denim piece popping up repeatedly: the denim dress.

I personally, am a HUGE fan of the denim dress. It’s a great in-between item for transitional weather. Denim is usually quite sturdy, so it offers more warmth than lightweight cotton, even in dress form.
But what makes this year’s denim dresses different than seasons past are the details and shape. Detailed denim is a major do for spring. So look for denim dresses with distinct features like decorative seaming, patch pockets, puff sleeves, and buttons. For the fit, look for silhouettes that have a distinct waist rather than looser, shirtdress styles. I love the fit of today’s denim dresses, the shape feels very 1970s yet modern at the same time.
As the weather warms up, you can change your footwear to match the temperatures. Wear your spring denim dress now with knee high boots like mine (you can add a long coat if needed), then swap them out for ankle booties, white sneakers, or block heel sandals.
Below you’ll find several great denim dresses for spring, including this find for under $75. My exact denim dress is nearly sold out, but this Sezane denim dress is nearly identical, as is this dress by Rails.

Love a good denim dress. This one is SO cute. And love it with the boots.
