Jones Road Review: My Favorite Products

When I first heard that legendary makeup artist Bobbi Brown was starting a new brand, I knew I wanted in on it. Today I’m reviewing my favorite products from her latest makeup endeavor, Jones Road.

I’ve been using Jones Road products since the brand launched in 2020 and have gradually added more and more products to my favorites list. I’m really excited to be writing this post for you.

Jones Road Beauty Review

Aside from her previous namesake brand, Bobbi Brown is the makeup artist behind so many iconic nude makeup looks that graced countless magazine covers. She shook up the industry with natural “no makeup makeup” that so many of us prefer to achieve as our everyday makeup.

All Jones Road beauty products contain high-quality, clean ingredients. With sheer and buildable formulas, these are great for people of all ages. And they work just as easily for makeup newbies as they do for experts.

Jones Road Review

Launched in 2020, Jones Road is a clean beauty brand built on the philosophy that the world doesn’t need more beauty products, it needs better ones.

After Bobbi Brown left her brand, she found herself trying to find clean, high-performance makeup that worked across multiple skin types and skin tones. She couldn’t, so set out on a new venture to make these items herself.

Jones Road beauty products contain zero phthalates, sulfates, petrolatum, PEGs, cyclic silicones, EDTA, or BPA, eliminating over 2,700 potentially harmful ingredients.

With ingredients like Jojoba Oil, Castor Seed Oil, and other essential oils, Jones Road is a unique beauty brand that bridges the gap between makeup and skin care.

Jones Road best-sellers include Miracle Balm, What the Foundation, The Face Pencil, and The Mascara.

Best Jones Road Products

The Face Pencil

My favorite Jones Road product is The Face Pencil. It’s a concealer in pencil form and makes covering redness or blemishes super quick and easy.

On days when I don’t want to wear a full face of makeup but still want an even complexion, I’ll use The Face Pencil quickly over any redness or blemishes I may have, then blend it into my skin.

Although this is a pencil, it’s not hard or rough. And thanks to Castor Oil, does not drag on the skin. The consistency of the formula is stiff, yet flexible to glide onto skin. And it easily blends with the swipe of a finger. It easily blends with the warmth of your fingers.

You can buy one or multiple colors and use The Face Pencil to conceal redness or dark spots, lighten dark circles, and correct any discoloration you may have. A truly genius product and great for pros and newbies alike.

Lip and Cheek Stick

I’m all for a multi-use makeup product. The Lip and Cheek Stick provides a great pop of color.

Don’t freak out about how bright the color looks in stick form; it’s a cream formula that goes on sheer, but that you can build upon if you desire a highly pigmented look.

For the most part I use the Lip and Cheek Stick on just my cheeks. But when I’m in a hurry I will do a quick swipe on my lips. It provides a nice enhancement to my natural color without the look of a true lipstick.

My shade of choice is Bright Pink.

The Bronzer

If you’re looking for a subtle glow, you’re going to love The Bronzer from Jones Road.

I’d been on the hunt for years to find a natural-looking bronzer that didn’t turn me orange, wasn’t too shimmery, and didn’t look muddy.

And although The Bronzer doesn’t contain any shimmer in it, I don’t feel like I’m missing anything from it. If I want a metallic highlight on certain days, I just add some into my makeup routine.

I’m not into an overly contoured face. The Bronzer provides a nice, subtle color on my cheekbones as if they were perfectly kissed by the sun. It’s a virtually weightless, buildable powder formula.

I wear The Bronzer whenever I feel like I’ve lost my natural summer glow. I use Light Tan and I apply it with the matching fluffy and soft Bronzer Brush.

What The Foundation

What The Foundation is one of the more recent Jones Road products I’ve tried. I’m very much a lightweight coverage girl when it comes to my foundation, and really like this formula.

The consistency is almost like a mid-weight moisturizer, but with a tint to help even your complexion. I was originally worried based on its appearance, that What The Foundation would be too heavy for my combination skin. However, it’s very lightweight and has a whipped-like texture. Ingredients like Jojoba Oil and Sodium Hyaluronate help to hydrate the skin for a natural, dewy complexion that doesn’t feel too shiny or greasy.

Like other Jones Road products, the initial application may feel very sheer, but it’s buildable in case you want more coverage. This is a great product for everyday wear.

Just A Sec Eyeshadow

This cream to powder eyeshadow formula gives the perfect amount of sparkle on your eyelids.

Just A Sec eyeshadow is available in several gorgeous neutral shades, from lighter tans and golds to smokier grays and browns. For an everyday color, I absolutely love Cool Taupe. You can wear it as is during the day, then layer in a darker shade to amplify up the look for night.

Miracle Balm

I’d be remiss to not touch upon Jones Road Miracle Balm in this review.

This tinted moisture balm is one of the brand’s best-sellers, but I feel it’s definitely for a specific customer or someone who has dry skin to add a dewy appearance with minimal pigment.

For starters, Miracle Balm a very light wash of color. It’s pretty, but it’s so subtle, and for this product I really want more pigmentation. Since I have combination skin, building it up feels too heavy on my skin type, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad product.

Originally I tried a rosy shade, but on a recent visit to the Jones Road boutique in New York City I tried Golden Hour right on my cheekbones as a highlight and it looked nice. If you do purchase Miracle Balm, I definitely recommend using it on your cheekbones as a light color and more of a highlight. However, if you want a more pigmented cream formula for your cheeks, try the Lip and Cheek Stick.

If you are looking for a subtle color and a dewy glow, and you don’t have oily skin, you may love Miracle Balm.

If you are just starting out with these products what would you start with? The foundation or foundation and miracle balm? My skin is “normal” Thank you, Christina

Hi Christina, you can use the miracle balm on its own or over foundation. Just tap it on your cheekbones like you would with a cream blush or highlight!
