In case you missed the BIG NEWS – Matt and I bought an apartment in New York City! I shared a preview of our new home on Instagram, but here is the *official* NYC empty apartment tour!

No, we are not permanently moving to NYC! We plan on splitting our time between New York and our current home in Los Angeles. (If you want to read about our experience buying a home in the middle of the pandemic, click here.)
We’re now the proud owners of an alcove studio located in the heart of West Village. West Village is a charming, red brick neighborhood with lots of shopping and restaurants, while still maintaining a small community feel. Our building was built in 1898 and used to be a GE building where they sold appliances! I love the old history of West Village. It’s just a couple of blocks from the main shopping area, Bleecker Street, and a couple of blocks from the river for great running and/or walking.
Since we won’t be living in NYC full-time, we saved money by purchasing a studio instead of a one bedroom apartment. Because of the alcove layout, the sleeping area is tucked away in the back of the apartment. You can’t even see bed until you’re in the living area, which is really nice. The renovated kitchen is completely separate, and the high ceilings and natural light make it feel much bigger than it is!
One big project we hope to tackle in the next couple of years is the bathroom. The kitchen doesn’t need any major work, but the blue bathroom tile you’ll see at the end of the video is not my favorite. Eventually we’ll retile and add in black and gold accents to bring back some vintage charm. But for now, I’m the proud owner of a blue tile bathroom.
I can’t wait to share more updates as we furnish this empty NYC apartment – hope you enjoyed the tour!
