I love trying new beauty brands, especially when they’ve received several accolades from industry experts, have rave reviews, and have such pretty packaging you want to keep everything on your counter.
Several years ago I got to see makeup artist Gucci Westman in action backstage at the Brock Collection runway show during New York Fashion Week. I was obsessed with the glowy, soft makeup, and beautiful red lips she was giving the models, and since that day, Westman Atelier has been on my makeup radar. Over the past year or so I’ve slowly collected several products from this luxury clean beauty brand.
I’ve never been one to layer on tons of makeup, so I love when a brand’s ethos is all about enhancing your features in a minimal, natural-looking way.
I have found myself enjoying every Westman Atelier item I’ve put on my skin, so today I’m sharing my favorite products from the brand.
Westman Atelier Review
Westman Atelier is a clean beauty brand started in 2018 by makeup artist Gucci Westman. Over the last 20 years Westman has established herself as an expert in natural, second-skin makeup seen on faces including Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Anne Hathaway.
Her beauty philosophy is simple: that luxury, quality, and clean ingredients don’t have to be mutually exclusive.
The line takes a plant-first approach to ingredients, while focusing on quality formulas and only keeping synthetic ingredients if they’re absolutely necessary for the performance of the product.
Westman Atelier products are easy to use, buildable and blendable formulas crafted for anyone who wants a dewy and enhanced, yet natural complexion.
Best Westman Atelier Products
Lip Suede
Lip Suede in Les Rouges was the first product I ever tried from Westman Atelier. I remember seeing Reese Witherspoon wearing a gorgeous shade of red, and after searching for the color, I discovered it was Westman Atelier. It was same red lipstick Westman used when I was introduced to the brand backstage at New York Fashion Week.
I’m someone who is terrible at finishing an entire tube of lipstick, so I love that you get four gorgeous, full coverage shades in a single compact. You can wear each color on its own or combine them for a custom shade. The small compact is travel-friendly, too!
Although this lipstick a matte formula, my lips tend to feel a bit less dry when using Lip Suede over other matte lip products. Cherry Oil, Sunflower Seed Wax, Carnauba Wax, and peptides all contribute to hydrating and smoothing the lips.
Although you can use your fingers, I’d recommend a Lip Brush for applying with precision.
These are highly pigmented reds, so if you’re looking for something sheer, you may want to skip this. Otherwise, if red isn’t your thing, Lip Suede is also available in Les Nudes.
Face Trace Contour Stick
My friend Deme introduced me to Face Trace Contour Stick. Up until she convinced me to buy this product, I was very intimidated by contouring. However, this is a great contour product if you’re a beginner and want to add subtle definition to enhance your features.
Face Trace Contour Stick is a cream formula, so it’s easy to apply and difficult to mess up. Even if you accidentally go a little-too heavy handed, you can easily recover mistakes by blending the color into your skin. You’ll never look like you have big streaks of contour on your face.
I use the shade Truffle on my cheekbones, jawline, and down the sides of my nose.
It’s honestly hard to pick my favorite Westman Atelier product but given that Face Trace is so easy to use and demystified contouring for me, this is the winner.
Baby Cheeks Blush Stick
I love Baby Cheeks Blush Stick. I often find cream blushes can feel heavy on the cheeks, but this has a perfect, lightweight satin finish. (It’s similar to Jones Road Lip and Cheek Stick, but with a more matte finish.)
It’s pigmented, so a little bit goes a long way and you’ll be able to use it for a long time.
You can use a brush to apply Baby Cheeks Blush Stick, but I find it easiest to add a dab or two on my cheeks and blend with my fingers. I have Petal, and it provides a great, natural rosy flush.
Vital Skincare Complexion Drops
Ever since Kosas discontinued its Tinted Facial Oil, I have been looking for other skin tints. I finally found one I like, and it’s the Vital Skincare Complexion Drops.
For everyday makeup, this provides perfect light to medium coverage with just enough color to even the complexion.
The brand really describes the Vital Skincare Complexion Drops well – it’s the strength of a serum but the beauty of a skin tint. They’re not wrong.
My skin feels hydrated and looks refreshed when I wear this product. It’s a lightweight oil that’s packed with a bunch of skincare ingredients, combining both skincare and makeup into a single product.
I’ve usually shied away from “radiant” finishes in the past because I have combination skin. However, there’s something about these drops that provides a fresh-faced glow that I like.
Vital Skincare Complexion Drops work with a variety of skin tones and are available in 20 shades.
For full coverage, try the Vital Skin Foundation Stick. Although I haven’t personally tried it, it’s a repeat Allure Best of Beauty winner and contains coconut oil to improve elasticity and skin tone.
Super Loaded Tinted Highlight
Super Loaded Tinted Highlight looks like your average powder blush, but it’s actually a very dense multi-use cream formula you can use to add luminosity to cheeks, eyelids, and even lips.
I have Peau de Rosé, a soft cool rose that’s the prettiest shimmery pink. It’s also available in three other colors: Peau de Santé, Peau de Pêche, and Peau de Soleil.
Since this is such a high-density cream, using your fingers won’t provide the full beauty of this product’s color. The Blender Brush is a great companion.
If you’re looking for a glassier finish, try the Lit Up Highlight Stick.
Is Westman Atelier Worth It?
I’ve really liked every Westman Atelier product that I’ve tried, and after using each product for several months, I think they’re worth it.
Westman Atelier is a luxury clean beauty brand, and although the products come with a high price tag, you get what you pay for. Good-for-you skincare ingredients like Jojoba Oil, Coconut Oil, and Camellia Oil bridge the gap between skin care and makeup. When you use these products, you can also feel good about the skin care ingredients inside them.
Westman Atelier formulas feel luxurious. They’re all beautifully pigmented while also somehow simultaneously subtle and easy to blend. And although I know packaging doesn’t imply efficacy, the sleek, streamlined containers are pretty to look at, don’t feel cheap, and make applying makeup feel a little more deluxe.
This brand makes me eager to explore additional colors and add other products to my makeup collection.
Next up on my list of products to try from Westman Atelier: Lip Suede Les Nudes, Lit Up Highlight Stick, and Squeaky Clean Lip Balm.
