This outfit is for one of those really hot days that turn into nights. I love this time of year because you can get dressed, go out during the day, and then suddenly it’s 8 PM and still light out. I love summer, but I love these specific weeks of summer even more.
Linen has quickly become my fabric of choice this summer, and I’ve found an appreciation for it in soft colors (see exhibit A: this dress). This linen tank is so cute, and the buttons up the front elevate it beyond just a basic tank. This season I’ve really been focusing on buying basics with tiny details that up the style, but don’t sacrifice on comfort. I’m wearing a small, although I probably could have gotten away with an XS. Luckily there are adjustable straps; otherwise I definitely would have had to go down a size. If you’re between, size down for sure. This tank is $35 and could easily be dressed up with a cute skirt and some heeled sandals. Or you could go casual with some jean shorts and flip flops. The world is your oyster! If you’re not into pink, it comes in white and tan as well.
I’ve been really avoiding denim lately because #summer and don’t feel like getting heatstroke. These cotton pants are a nice alternative when you’re sick of dresses but you also don’t want to wear shorts. They’re slightly cropped so perfect for my 5’4” height, and would still look cute even if you were a little taller. I love the waistband here, it reminds me of a paper bag waist, and the pleat design really calls for a top that you can tuck in to show it off. These are on sale but only a couple of sizes are left! I took my true size, a small.
In the summer I usually opt for brown or tan accessories because they are a lot softer and for some reason feel “lighter” and less severe than black. I can’t stop wearing these $25 crossover slides; they’ve become my go-to sandals for everyday wear lately.
