Ready for Spring: One Dress Two Ways

Whether it’s summer changing to fall or winter changing to spring, both instances are such distinct weather transitions. It’s always fun to shop during both of these time periods because with either, you can really do a refresh of your closet and buy new fun trends for the seasons.

This outfit is the first of many spring looks, so I wanted to start with a bang. Today I’m sharing the most perfect blush spring dress and how to wear it two very different ways. You can mix and match it into your rotation and wear it all spring and summer. Seasonal longevity is key. When I shop at the start of a new season, I make sure to consider that the pieces last the whole time.

I’m also testing out this kind of post. Would you want to see more posts where I style one piece in different ways? Keep reading to see how I style this dress two different ways.

Blush, rose, millennial pink, whatever you want to call it, this color is still in. I wear a LOT of black in fall and winter but the second it’s anywhere near spring, I bring out the pastel colors. I found this dress at Nordstrom and it was just so pretty I had to get it. It was my first spring piece I bough this year in one of my favorite colors! You can’t really tell in these photos, but the dress is actually striped and the pinks are just different enough. There’s also dimensional texture on it that makes it look a lot more expensive than it actually is.

LOOK 1 – Easy Weekend Brunch

Warm weather in Los Angeles means outdoor brunch. I love a good brunch, but often times I have errands to run or places to go after eating. Thanks to LA traffic, it’s never worth going home to change. Enter this outfit; it’s equal parts cute and comfortable, so I can go from brunch to running errands.

My inclination was to originally pair this dress with flat sandals, but I also LOVE a sneakers/dress combo. The white canvas sneakers look “very spring” with the pink shades of the dress and bag. Fossil sent me this pink shoulder bag a couple of months ago. It’s a great size for daytime since it fits a ton of stuff. I also thought it was fun to match the bag to my dress, so I went for it.

As we all know, spring weather is very volatile and so cute sneakers come in handy just in case it starts raining. I added a denim jacket because if you’ve ever been inside an LA restaurant, regardless of the weather, it’s always FREEZING. This way, if I can’t get an outdoor table, I’m not shivering while I scarf down pancakes. This is my Madewell denim jacket that I pair with basically everything. I feel like I say this every time I post about it, but it’s the perfect in-between shade of blue that’s not too dark or light. It also fits perfectly and isn’t too boxy, long, or short. (Dear Madewell, I’m ready to be sponsored!)

LOOK 2 – A Dressy Affair

Spring seems to have a lot of baby showers, bridal showers, and weddings, so I wanted to make sure that I gave you a dressed up option for this dress. I ditched the denim jacket and wore the dress as is so you could really see the stripes and the texture on it. If you still need a jacket or a cover up to keep warm, then a white linen cardigan like this one is perfect.

Since the dress is fairly light, I didn’t want to bog it down with dark black shoes, so I stuck with nude. Nude shoes also make your legs look longer! I bought these shoes sometime last year because I loved the cascading bows on the front. There’s literally one pair of these left in the universe and if you’re a size 7 you’re in luck (they are also 70% off from a high price tag, so hurry).

I finished the look with some of my favorite gold jewels. Since the dress is simple, it needed a little bling. Three of the four pieces are by one of my favorite jewelry lines, gorjana. They make the prettiest stuff at fairly affordable prices. How fun is this long disk necklace (on sale now) and woven cuff bracelet?

When you go shopping do you think of all of the looks you can create with an item, or do you just buy it because you love it?
