My first Quince cashmere sweater purchase was in 2024, and over the past year or so I’ve added a handful of different styles to my closet. Quince has built its reputation around offering items at significantly lower price points than traditional luxury brands, but they’re particularly known for their affordable cashmere sweaters.
While I haven’t shopped all that Quince has to offer, I have been impressed with the good quality of their cashmere, the fit of the pieces, and the affordable pricing. In this Quince cashmere review, I’m sharing my honest take on the cashmere sweaters I personally own and why I believe these sweaters actually live up to the hype.
Quince Cashmere Review
Cashmere has long been considered a luxury fiber, and a good cashmere sweater can easily cost several hundred dollars, or considerably more. While I love the idea of investing in beautiful luxury items, I don’t necessarily think every wardrobe basic requires a luxury price tag. That’s where Quince comes in.
Quince has made cashmere much more accessible by selling directly to consumers, keeping its designs relatively simple and its color options focused. The result is quality cashmere in easy, wearable styles at more affordable prices. You’re not paying for elaborate designs or a big brand markup, but you still get the softness and warmth that makes cashmere so desirable.
So, how does that actually translate to the sweaters, and are they worth buying? Here’s a closer look.
My Quince Cashmere Sweater Collection
Mongolian Cashmere Crewneck Sweater
The Quince Mongolian Cashmere Crewneck Sweater is probably the easiest piece to start with if you’re new to Quince cashmere. It’s a simple, classic fit crewneck sweater that works with everything from jeans to tailored trousers, making it a highly versatile piece with timeless style.
I think of this as the gateway Quince sweater. At only under $50, this sweater provides great value and is an absolute no-brainer if you want to stock up on a few basics.
The classic crewneck is a basic you can find from just about any brand, so I don’t necessarily think it’s the kind of sweater you need to spend hundreds of dollars on. That’s where Quince really makes sense. You get the softness and polish of cashmere, but with a great price tag. This makes it feel much more like something for everyday style rather than a precious investment piece. Wear it on its own, drape it over your shoulders, or tie it around your waist when you want a stylish third piece layer. Since it’s affordable, it’s a cashmere sweater I feel comfortable throwing in my bag or bringing on an airplane without worrying too much about it.
Mongolian Cashmere Sweater Tee
The Mongolian Cashmere Tee is a top pick for me because it gives you the simplicity of a T-shirt with a much more elevated feel. It’s a great option for those days when you want something easy and understated, but a basic cotton tee feels a little too casual. The cashmere instantly makes it feel more polished without adding any extra effort.
I love wearing my cashmere tee with jeans for everyday outfits or tucked into tailored trousers when I want something a little more refined. It’s also a great transitional piece for warmer weather without the weight of a traditional sweater.
Mongolian Cashmere Short Sleeve Polo
The Short Sleeve Polo is my most recent Quince cashmere sweater purchase. I love that it offers a fun, elevated take on the classic preppy look, and the polo collar provides a little more personality than a traditional sweater. With its short sleeves, it’s obviously a sweater that’s great for warmer weather, but if you’re looking for a long-sleeve option, here’s a similar polo style I love.

Mongolian Cashmere Structured Cardigan
This Quince cardigan is a more polished take on the classic cardigan, with a slightly fitted waist and subtle bell-shaped sleeves. It’s one of those special cashmere pieces that I wear when I want more of a feminine fit. This sweater is a noticeably heavier weight than the crewneck, tee, or polo, which makes it feel especially substantial and elevated.
Because of the structured fit through the waist, I’d consider sizing up if you prefer a little more room or want to layer it over anything more than a lightweight top.
Mongolian Cashmere Structured V-Neck Cardigan
The Structured V-Neck Cardigan is probably the most modern and “coolest” of the Quince sweaters I own. It has a cropped length, slightly oversized fit that feels relaxed and contemporary without looking sloppy. The V-neck and structured shape keep it polished, while the shorter length makes it feel a little more fashion-forward than a traditional cardigan.
I especially like this v-neck cardigan with high-waisted jeans or trousers because the cropped length works so well with a higher rise. It’s an easy way to make a cashmere sweater feel a little more modern without doing anything particularly complicated with the rest of your outfit.
Is Quince Cashmere Good Quality?
Are Quince’s sweaters the same quality as a $500 cashmere sweater from Vince? No, and I wouldn’t expect them to be.
Instead, I’d judge Quince against other affordable cashmere sweaters. In this instance, the brand offers a lot of value. The silhouettes are classic, the pieces are super soft and wearable, and they actually look and feel substantially more elevated than the price might suggest.
Compared to J.Crew sweaters, I think Quince’s sweaters absolutely stack up for the good quality and price tag.
I own J.Crew’s Cashmere Classic-Fit Crewneck Sweater and I find the Quince equivalent to have the same fit and lightweight feel, but softer and much more affordable. ($148 vs. $50 at the time of publishing this post. Both are 100% cashmere and neither are made in the USA.) To add some additional perspective, Gap’s similar CashSoft Crew Sweater retails for $69.95, and isn’t made from any cashmere at all.
How Soft Is Quince Cashmere?
The biggest selling point for me is that Quince cashmere feels soft and comfortable against the skin, even though the price points may have you expecting otherwise.
It’s important to note that there can be a little bit of variation between styles, particularly because the construction and weights aren’t identical, but overall I’ve been very happy with the feel of these sweaters. For example, my two cardigans don’t feel as baby soft as the crewneck sweater, tee, or polo. The lighter sweaters feel softer to the touch, while the cardigans feel more substantial for cooler weather. However, all of them are the kind of cozy sweaters I can wear directly against my skin without thinking twice.
These sweaters are not itchy (as you may experience with cashmere blends or merino wool sweaters), and I can wear them all day, even while traveling.
Does Quince Cashmere Pill?
Most cashmere sweaters, even expensive ones, pill on some level. So, I’m not going to make some heinous claim that these are magical sweaters where this won’t happen. They will pill, particularly in areas where there’s repeated friction. I don’t consider that a reason not to buy them.
Cashmere is a pretty easy fabric to maintain especially if you have the right tools, like a cashmere comb or a gentle sweater shaver, to remove pilling. Don’t remove pilling by hand as this can stretch and damage the fibers.
Quince Cashmere Sizing Review
Overall, I’ve found Quince cashmere to be fairly consistent with my usual size, but the best size really depends on the silhouette you’re buying and how you want the sweater to fit. Some styles are naturally more relaxed, while others have a more structured shape.
My general advice is to start with your true size rather than automatically sizing up for an oversized fit. If you prefer a more relaxed look or you have a large chest and you’re purchasing a more fitted style, you can consider going up a size. Otherwise I wouldn’t assume you need to.

How to Care for Quince Cashmere
All cashmere requires a little more care than your average sweater, but I find the process pretty manageable. Always check the individual care instructions for the specific garment.
Quince recommends hand washing its cashmere in cold water and laying it flat to dry. My washing machine has a hand-wash cycle that I personally find gentle enough for my sweaters, so that’s what I use.
As mentioned above, if you start seeing pilling, use a cashmere comb or a sweater shaver to help maintain your sweater’s appearance.
Are Quince Sweaters Worth It?
After owning and wearing several different styles, I do think Quince cashmere sweaters are worth buying. I wouldn’t compare them to the very highest-end cashmere on the market, but that’s also not what you’re paying for. For affordable cashmere sweaters, Quince offers great value: you get the softness and feel of cashmere without the intimidating price tag that often comes with it.
I appreciate that Quince focuses on classic styles that are easy to work into an existing wardrobe. Between the different colors and variety of silhouettes, there’s something for just about every style preference.
