Fall is one of my favorite seasons for fashion, so it only makes sense that it’s also my favorite season for shopping.
Over the last several years I’ve been focusing on building out more of a curated closet filled with less, but higher-quality items that I can wear time and time again. Therefore, my seasonal wish lists typically include an assortment of investment pieces, items that need replacing, and a few trendier things that I can throw into the mix with my staples.
At the start of every season I do a big closet cleanout and donate anything that doesn’t fit or that I find myself no longer wearing. I take a look at what I own, re-assess anything that needs updating or replacing, and look at gaps in my wardrobe to decide where I want to prioritize investment pieces.
To help myself stay on budget throughout the season, I always make a wish list on my phone as a shopping guide. It helps to reduce impulse purchases and gives me focus so that I can stay on track with saving and budgeting for bigger ticket items that I want.
Some items on my wish list are very specific pieces, while others may be more generic if I’m on the hunt for something like the perfect oversized tee or light wash jeans.
A wish list is just that, so I may not end up buying everything on it. I always have a few special splurge items on my list, so with these investment pieces, if I don’t buy something this season, it may carry over into winter or next fall.
My Fall Wish List
1. Khaite Abigail Jeans
Khaite jeans are quite pricey, but I own a pair of the brand’s full length straight leg jeans and they have been one of my most worn jeans over the past two years.
I’ve been seeing a lot of really cute fall outfits with light wash jeans, so I have my eye on these ankle length jeans from Khaite. For a more affordable option with a bit of stretch, I also love these light wash jeans.
2. Anine Bing Quinn Blazer
This blazer from Anine Bing has been on my wish list for several years, and I think this is the year that I finally buy it. Although I love my blazer from M.M.LaFleur, I really like the oversized fit of this and the strong shoulders. I’ve tried this on in store many times and it always just looks so cool.
My only dilemma is whether I want the black or the khaki green.
3. Sezane Vicky Loafers
There are so many ways to style chunky loafers, and I love my black pair, but this season I’m looking to add a pair with a slimmer profile to my fall footwear collection.
I love the hardware detail on the Vicky Loafers from Sezane. Sezane is one of my favorite brands to shop so if you’re unfamiliar with them, check out my Sezane size recommendations and shopping tips here.
4. Oversized T-Shirts
When I was in Paris this summer, the vibe was oversized everything, including t-shirts. I splurged on this tee in Paris and love it, but I’m on the hunt for some more affordable oversized t-shirt options for everyday wear.
5. A Chocolate Brown Handbag
I am lusting after chocolate brown this season, and looking to add a handbag in this rich hue to my closet.
I have my eyes on two options: this crossbody bag with the croc-print effect, or this slouchy shoulder bag.
6. J.Crew Black Ankle Jeans
My current black ankle jeans have faded and they are a bit snug. Sadly, the brand doesn’t make them anymore, so I’m looking to replace them with these black ankle jeans from J.Crew.
7. Bandier Navy Blue Leggings & Sports Bra
I’ve been a big fan of Bandier’s workout sets for a long time. I wear the sports bras for weight training, spinning, and boxing, but the leggings are truly my unsung workout heroes.
These leggings have no center seam downtime front, so there is no risk of camel toe or weird bunching when you wear them.
The navy is a nice classic alternative to my usual black.
8. Jennybird Florence Earrings
My ears are sensitive to cheap metal, so I have always shied away from chic statement earrings despite longing to wear them.
I never tried any Jennybird jewelry until I received some earrings as a birthday gift from my in-laws. I’m happy to report that I’ve been able to wear these U-Link earrings all day without any irritation, so I’m looking forward to finally being able to add variety to my ears with these Florence double hoop earrings.
Needless to say, I am very much looking forward to my chic statement earrings era.
9. Jennybird Sila Ear Cuff Set
Although I want another ear piercing, I can’t decide just yet where I want it. In the meantime, these ear cuffs look super fun – and you don’t have to commit to anything permanent.
10. Madewell Kline Plaid Blazer
Surprisingly, gray is one of those neutrals that I don’t own a ton of. I think this is the perfect gray plaid blazer, so I’m hoping to add this to my assortment of blazers hanging in my closet. I think it looks super chic how they styled it on the model with all black.
11. Toteme Oversized Wool Coat
Like a trench coat, a long wool camel coat is a timeless staple.
This year, I’ve added this beautiful Toteme camel coat to my list. It’s perfectly oversized without looking sloppy, and because of the fit, you can perfectly layer thicker sweaters under it and use it beyond fall and into winter.
12. Madewell Cropped Striped T-Shirt
How cute is this casual long-sleeve striped tee? It has a slightly cropped length with a boxy fit. I think it’ll look super cute with wide leg jeans and my current go-to sneakers.
