Have you tried wide legs jeans yet? Because if you haven’t, you should.
As someone who used to work in the denim industry, I’ve always loved trying different rises and silhouettes. Even though I’m keeping a couple pairs of skinny jeans on hand to tuck into tall boots, I’m all about wide leg jeans. They’re comfortable, versatile for different seasons, and they’re not going anywhere.
Yes, you can wear wide leg jeans, friend! If you’re looking to try the trend, here are outfit ideas to follow and a few tips on how to style wide leg jeans if your closet is leaving you feeling uninspired.
Wide Leg Jeans Outfit Ideas
Trouser Jeans with an overized Sweater
To elevate your wide leg jeans, go with a trouser style like these ones! Paired with a cozy sweater, it’s the ultimate fall outfit idea. To add warmth to this outfit, add in brown tones through your shoes and bag.
Tonal Wide Leg Jeans and Tee
You can never go wrong with a tonal outfit with neutral accessories. It’s easy and looks elevated, no matter where you’re headed! This outfit works with a fitted tee but I love the look of an oversized t-shirt tucked into a pair of ankle-length wide leg jeans. Finish off your outfit with mary jane flats, a simple bag, and a sweater over your shoulders for the perfect third piece.
With Ladylike pieces
Pairing your wide leg jeans with ladylike pieces like a knit cardigan or mary jane flats is the ultimate French girl outfit. It’s simple but elevated and the pops of red are so fun!
With a Sweater Tee and Sneakers
For more casual days, pair your black wide leg jeans with sneakers. To help elevate this casual outfit, swap out your cotton tee for a sweater tee like this one.
Wide Leg Jeans with a Sporty Bomber Jacket
Another great casual wide leg jeans outfit for when you’re out and about. Keep things easy with wide leg jeans, a tee shirt, and sneakers, then add a sporty touch with a bomber jacket and hat.
Baggy Wide Leg Jeans with a Blazer
This is a great combination when you want to be comfortable but look polished. An oversized blazer with baggy wide leg jeans is very of-the-moment, but both are balanced with a t-shirt. These these light wash wide leg jeans are an easy, everyday pair and are super comfortable.
CARGO JEANS
If you’re looking for fashion forward, of-the-moment wide leg jeans, try cargo jeans! I’ve noticed this style gradually creeping onto the pages of many of my favorite retailers. (Find a few more cargo jeans here, here, here, and here!)
This outfits works with just a t-shirt and sneakers on their own, but I threw on the blazer for a fun third piece element to make it feel just a little more put-together.
Wide Leg Jeans AND SWEATER OVER SHOULDERS
These black wide jeans are some of my favorite jeans in my closet. The material looks more elevated than traditional denim, but it still has all of the comfort of the classic stretch fabric.
For transitional weather days when you may need a light layer, throw a sweater over your shoulders and pair your look with a henley tank and some sneakers.
Denim on Denim with Brown
You can never go wrong with denim on denim. Pair your wide leg jeans with a denim button down shirt, then add in warm tones with accessories via boots, a jacket, and your bag. This gorgeous suede jacket has been a part of my wardrobe for a few years and I love it.
White Denim with a black turtleneck
My off-white wide leg jeans always are on heavy rotation once spring and summer arrive.
If can be tricky to dress for early spring days when it’s still cold. The light ecru wash of the jeans and the floral pattern on this turtleneck both scream spring, but both pieces will still keep you warm when the weather isn’t quite there yet.
Cropped Wide Leg Jeans and Black Turtleneck
Your wide leg jeans don’t always need to be full-length. For an elevated denim outfit that works for the office, try a pair of cropped wide leg jeans with a black turtleneck, a trench coat and some low heels.
Wide Leg Jeans with a Blazer and Turtleneck
I always love a chic, streamlined outfit. This blue and black combo is simple yet timeless, and reminiscent of 90s supermodel days. Try pairing your jeans with some low pointed black boots.
Suede Sherpa jacket with wide leg jeans
When the weather gets cold, style your wide leg jeans with a turtleneck and suede sherpa jacket. It’s cozy but elevated!
Cropped Wide Leg Jeans with a Tweed Jacket
Just like wide leg jeans, lady jackets are having a moment. And the good news, is that both items look great together! For an polished, feminine wide leg jeans outfit, try pairing your denim with a tweed jacket. I love the opposition of casual denim with the polished, preppy topper. (I’m wearing a M/size 2 in this tweed jacket; it runs slim.)
Tonal With a Trench Coat
A tonal look always looks chic and put together. Look for shades that fall into the same color category for a head to toe monochromatic look. This works for all seasons, but I particularly love white with a tan trench coat for spring.
Dark Wide Leg Jeans with a Trench Coat
Dark denim always helps to elevate and dress up even the most casual outfits. Try a pair of dark wash wide leg jeans with sneakers, a neutral color sweater, and a trench coat for a simple, yet refined look. This is a great outfit for a day of sightseeing or errands in a city with it’s chilly.

Dark denim and red is such a classic Americana pairing. This color combination will always feels nostalgic to me. I think the two colors always remind me of that iconic Farrah Fawcett photo of her on the skateboard.

White wide leg jeans feel light and fresh, and work for early fall and spring. An easy way to keep a blazer outfit casual is to pair it with sneakers.
I own this exact blazer in three different colors; it has a great boyfriend fit without being too oversized or sloppy. Read my full review on the brand, MM LaFleur, here.

Blazers aren’t only to wear to the office! To style yours more casually, pair it with a pair of wide leg jeans and sneakers. It’s unexpected but the perfect combo.

This is my ideal “running errands” outfit. A sweatshirt or sweater around your shoulders is fashion-forward yet practical. It makes for an easy-to-grab layer should it get cold while you’re out. Keep this look casual with some chunky New Balance dad sneakers. They run TTS. I am obsessed with them, and love them for a day out and about in the city.
Ecru Wide Leg Jeans with Stripes
White and black is a classic combination. A striped button down shirt is timeless, but when paired with high-top Converse sneakers, it feels a little more of-the-moment and casual.
