Margaux Shoes Review: The Comfortable Shoe Brand I’m Loving

I’ve seen ads all over social media for Margaux shoes. The brand recently opened a pop-up location in Los Angeles near me, so I decided to check out their beautiful shoes in person.

I’m always in the market for high-quality, stylish, and comfortable shoes that I can wear with several outfits, for many years, and Margaux’s shoes fit the bill. After trying several styles at the store, I initially landed on treating myself to The Flat Sandal. It’s an elevated sandal that feels a little more polished than your run of the mill slide. After several weeks of wearing my first pair of Margauxs nearly nonstop, I purchased a second pair, The Dylan Sandal. Now most recently, I added The Ada ballet flat to my footwear collection. I’m sharing a full review on my Margaux shoes in this post.

What Are Margaux Shoes?

Margaux shoes are designed in New York City and handmade in Spain in a family-owned factory.

It’s a shoe brand focused on high-quality footwear, looking to strike the balance between form, and function. Margaux prides itself on luxe materials like Italian leather, cushioned soles, and thoughtful designs with secured fit and perfectly placed hardware.

Whether you’re looking for a ballet flat, sandal, or a high heel, Margaux has something for everyone. And while the brand does lean into a trend here or there (hello mesh flats!), most of the shoes are timeless pieces you can keep as part of your shoe collection for years to come.

Overall Sizing

If you have narrow or wide feet; an uncommon shoe size; or simply have a hard time finding the right fit; you’ll likely find yourself in luck with Margaux thanks to a huge assortment of different sizes and widths.

Margaux is one of the few shoe brands that offers a range of sizes from a US 3 to 14, and widths in narrow, medium, and wide. Margaux also offers half sizes for a truly perfect fit. These small or large sizes typically sell out fast, but you can put yourself on a waitlist to get notified the shoe you want comes back in stock.

I’ve tried on a few pairs of Margaux shoes and have found that most of them run TTS. I took my usual size 7 medium width in The Flat Sandal and The Dylan Sandal, but personally found I need to go up half a size on the best-selling Margaux Demi Flats and Demi Jane Flats.

Margaux Flat Sandals

The Flat Sandal

I had been on the hunt for the perfect elevated flat sandal that could be dressed up or down for a long time, so I was thrilled to discover The Flat Sandal from Margaux. As someone who splits time between NYC and LA, and frequently travels to Paris and London, I needed a sandal with a secure strap—something more reliable than a slide—for confidently navigating city streets without worrying about my shoes slipping off.

Margaux sells a variety of flat sandals including their popular Wrap Sandal, but I love the simplicity in the design I purchased, and I prefer a buckle over ties for a more streamlined look.

Margaux

The Flat Sandal

Made from soft Italian nappa leather, and a cushioned footbed, this minimalist shoe will work overtime with everything in your closet.

Materials & Construction

The Flat Sandal is a leather sandal available in nappa leather or suede. It features a front cross strap design with a thin ankle strap. The buckle is covered in the same material as the shoe for a tonal appearance. If you’re someone who is a stickler for matching gold and silver hardware on your shoes to accessories, you don’t have to worry about that with these shoes!

There’s also a cushioned sole with a thin layer of plush padding.

And although it’s a flat, there’s a super subtle stacked heel that make this feel like a proper shoe instead of a casual sandal.

Colors

This sandal is available in several neutrals and prints, included embossed python and suede leopard print. I opted for saddle, and it’s a beautiful rich cognac shade that’s not too dark, acts as a neutral color, and totally timeless.

Comfort

I’m pleased to say that these sandals are super comfortable, and with the plush cushion, definitely comfier than your average flat shoe. I wouldn’t say that these sandals necessarily have arch support, but they do feel more springy than other sandals when walking, and the ground doesn’t feel as hard. When comparing these sandals to the shoes I was wearing, I could instantly tell the difference in the softer footbed and was sold.

The break-in period for these sandals was virtually zero. The first time I tried them I wore them for over 8 hours. Other than minimal rubbing on my right heel during the first wear, the leather has been soft and perfectly fine for all other wears.

The Dylan Sandal

If you’re looking for a heeled sandal that you can walk miles in, you’re going to love The Dylan Sandal.

I purchased this shoe in black nappa, and it filled a void in my shoe wardrobe that I was majorly missing: a minimalist strappy sandal that feels dressed up, but not too dressy, and feels modern without being trendy. This is basically a cool 90s sandal, and if Carrie Bradshaw was looking for a kitten heel, these would be her BFFs.

Margaux

The Dylan Sandal

A strappy kitten heel sandal made to be dressed up or down; a truly versatile closet staple.

Materials & Construction

The Dylan Sandal is made from either Italian nappa leather or patent leather, depending on the color.

I love the barely there straps, and the toe has a subtle, square shape that gives the sandal a modern look.

A gorgeous gold metal buckle fastens the strap, and the sole of the shoe is made with plush padding. And for me, the best part: a 1.5-inch kitten heel, making this an extremely walkable shoe that has worked for me all over NYC and countless steps through Las Vegas hotels.

Colors

The Dylan Sandal comes in four colors: nude, white, burgundy, and black.

The nude and white are both matte nappa leather, while the black is a glossy nappa and the burgundy is a true patent leather.

Comfort

So. Comfortable. I put these shoes on and walked to dinner that night in them with no issue. No rubbing, no breaking in.

The plush layer in the sole does give this shoe a general softness while walking.

I’ve owned other kitten heels and sometimes when the heel height is so low, it can be awkward for me to walk in them. I swear sometimes my feet can’t decipher between a flat or a heel. But with The Dylan Sandals, it was instantly easy to walk in them. My feet have yet to feel fatigued in them, or like my toes are hanging on for dear life while walking. In short, these are the perfect heeled sandals.

The Ada Ballet Flat

I have loved my Margaux sandals so much that I decided to try a completely different type of shoe from the brand. The Ada is a newer shoe style for Margaux, and you can think of it as the classic ballet flat meets a low profile pump. I find this style to be a bit more modern than the brand’s cult-favorite Demi Ballet Flat thanks to its square toe box vs. a more traditional, rounded toe.

I’ve really enjoyed that I can get the best of both worlds from this versatile shoe: the simple ease and comfort of a ballet flat while also enjoy a little bit of height with the 1” block heel.

I’m almost always a size 7, and that’s what I wear in Margaux Sandals. For The Ada though, I opted for a 7.5. (I found this sizing to also be the case with Margaux Demi Flats and Demi Jane Flats.) However, if you prefer your ballet flats snug to your foot, you’re likely fine taking your true size.

Margaux

The Ada

A modern update to a timeless ballet pump, this style features a glove-like fit and a comfortable 1-inch block heel.

Materials & Construction

The Ada is available in several materials, including Italian nappa leather, crinkle patent leather, and suede. This shoe even comes in denim and a very cute leopard mesh in case you’re looking for non-leather alternatives.

As mentioned above, the toe box here is a square shape, and you can adjust the fit of the shoe against the top of your foot with the cord bow.

I opted for The Ada in Black, and I really love how soft the nappa leather is. These shoes have an unconstructed leather heel, meaning the back isn’t stiff or hard like many other ballet flats out there. Instead, it’s soft and almost a little slouchy, gently molding to your heels instead of fighting against them.

Colors

It’s obvious that Margaux believes in the success of the Ada since there are over 5 colors and fabrics to choose here. Select black, nude, deep chocolate, leopard print, or denim.

Comfort

As mentioned above, what really sets this shoe apart from other ballet flats I’ve owned is the soft, pliable heel. As with all Margaux shoes, you’ll still get a plush insole and arch support, but I’ve had my heels ripped to shreds thanks to stiff silhouettes and that just isn’t the case here. I think the soft heel is a very underrated quality that a lot of shoe brands overlook.

The first time I wore The Ada ballet flats was in Paris, and they required no breaking in time.

I also appreciate how you can tighten or loosen the cord to the the perfect fit across the top of your foot; it’s not just about the length here.

Price

Margaux shoes range from $220 – $545, with their fall and winter boots being the most expensive options.

The Flat Sandals are all $220, except for the leopard print suede, which is a little more. The Dylan Sandals come in at $345 in all colors. And while these aren’t cheap sandals, they are far less expensive than if you were buying something from a luxury shoe brand. (And in my opinion, more comfortable, and I own several designer shoes.)

Are Margaux Shoes Worth It?

I’ve had my Margaux shoes for nearly a year now and wear them often. The Flat Sandals are sandals I can style with just about everything in my closet. They elevate casual daytime outfits and jeans, yet still work for dinner with a dress or some lightweight trousers. The Dylan Sandals feel chic and current, and effortless. They are super walkable heeled sandals that will stay in my shoe rotation for years to come. And I love that The Ada has that super soft leather heel and works with jeans and trousers.

For me, yes, they are worth it. When it comes to footwear, I don’t mess around. I’m a big believer in investing in high-quality shoes that can handle real wear—especially since I live in a walking city.

Comfort is just as important to me as style, and for me, you really can’t put a price on shoes that don’t ruin your feet. I always value well-made shoes I can actually walk in for hours without thinking twice. I also love that the break-in time on my Margaux shoes is literally less than a day, if that. Every Margaux shoe I’ve owned has been extremely comfortable, and they fit really well.

If you have small feet, big feet, narrow or wide width, or anything in-between, the options to find the right pair of shoes feels nearly endless.

Margaux shoes definitely don’t have a low price point, but given the comfort, high quality, and timeless styles, it’s a brand I feel comfortable investing in for myself. They really do make beautiful shoes and these are some of the most comfortable shoes I own.

This is a brand I’ve actually been putting off purchasing since last year, and I’m really happy I finally decided to try them. My only regret is that I didn’t Margaux them sooner! I’ve been very happy with the brand, and these definitely won’t be my last pair of Margaux shoes. In fact, I have my eyes on The Parra, sleek pointed toe flats that could easily double as dress shoes.

Where to Buy Margaux Shoes

Margaux is strictly a direct-to-consumer brand. They currently have one retail location in Los Angeles, otherwise you can purchase shoes on the brand’s website. Shoe shopping online can be difficult, but the brand does offer customer service live chat where you can speak to someone to help ensure you get your right size.

The brand offers free shipping, but they do charge for returns. You have the option to pay to pay $3.98 through their shipping partner Loop at the time of purchase for free returns and unlimited exchanges, otherwise returns are a flat $11 fee. You can ship the shoes back by printing a return label or dropping off your order at any Happy Returns location. I love when brands offer Happy Returns since these are usually convenient locations like a UPS store or a Staples.

If you’re exchanging shoes for another size, Margaux will waive the return shipping fee on the pair that doesn’t fit.
