Hello everyone! Man, 2018 is off to a quick start. How is it the last day of January already? Next week I’m heading out to NYC for a bit to catch some NYFW shows, then visiting some family before coming back. As I type this it’s 85 degrees outside so per usual, here I am again welcoming cooler weather. I just hope there’s not a blizzard next week because I don’t really want to attend a show in snow boots.
I’m trying to get better about posting beauty products, so I thought a fun thing for 2018 would be to create monthly posts showcasing my favorites in a reoccurring “Beauty Obsessions” post. I am also ALWAYS into recommendations so please send over your makeup, hair, and skin care faves!
So onto the post! Her are my beauty obsessions for January…
Sarah Jessica Parker Stash Unspoken – If you’ve been following me then you know that I have the other SJP Beauty fragrance, Stash. Stash Unspoken is a little lighter and fresher than it’s counterpart. I’m normally not into anything too floral but this has my favorite flower (peony) missed in with peppercorn and sandalwood. It’s a really unique scent.
Estee Lauder X Victoria Beckham Skin Perfecting Powder – True story, this has been sitting in my beauty drawer for a while but I haven’t had time to try it until recently. Oh my god. How did I ever live without this and why did I not try it sooner? You know that Snapchat/Instagram filter that kind of glazes over your face to give a nice soft glow and blurry effect? I don’t know how to describe the effect of this lightweight powder other than that. It’s basically a filter. Enough Said.
NYX Powder Puff Lippie in Squad Goals – This is the perfect dark mauve shade if you’re looking for a drugstore brand matte lipstick. Sometimes these shades never look right with my olive skin but it’s a similar shade to my natural lip color, so it just kind of enhances it a bit. It utilizes a cushion applicator and goes on almost like a mousse before it dries. It may possible that I also love this shade because of its name. *shrugs shoulders*
Dior Addict Ultra Gloss in Princess – Okay, fine. I have a weakness for makeup with cute names. How fun of a job would that be, to name lipstick or nail polish colors? Anyway, Dior makeup is always a fun splurge and I love these glosses because of the high shine, without being sticky at all. This one is a pink with purple undertones in the shimmer (aka a trick to make teeth look whiter).
Kevyn Aucoin Exotique Diamond Eye Gloss in Moonlight – In my opinion, I saved the best for last on this post. This is my favorite because this is a totally new form of product for me. Instead of a traditional shimmer eye shadow, this is literally a gloss for your lids. Think very sparkly Vaseline. A little goes a long way, and you can wear it alone or on top of eye shadow. FUN! I dab a bit of this right below my brows as a highlight, or in the inner corners of my eyes to brighten up that area. To me the sparkle is a very effortless, “I woke up like this” with a killer high shine finish.
