The Elk is a neighborhood gem tucked away off Charles Street, with an easygoing, rustic vibe.

Café Kitsuné is a coffee shop for those seeking a fashionable and modern coffee experience. With minimalist design and Japanese-inspired aesthetic, this coffee shop offers a serene and stylish atmosphere.

There’s plenty of seating here, making it the perfect, chic spot for your next coffee meeting. Heads up, due to popularity, they have a strict no laptop policy for indoor tables (although outside is free game).

Bar Pisellino

Address: 52 Grove St, New York, NY 10014

If you’re looking to take an imaginary trip to Italy, head to Bar Pisellino. Early weekend mornings are a lot sleepier than cocktail hour (they serve a great Aperol Spritz), and you can tuck in at one of their tables for a cappuccino or espresso and some almond cake.

Although they have great outdoor seating, I’m personally a fan of their wooden-flanked interior and picture perfect décor.

PRO TIP: Bar Pisellino also serves the best hot chocolate in the city. If you need a break from all the coffee in West Village, this is THE spot to fulfill a hot chocolate craving.

Best Coffee Shops in the West Village

Barachou

Address15 8th Ave, New York, NY 10014

Although Barachou is considered a bakery more than a coffee shop, this fun little place serves up cream puffs and other French pastries to savor along with your drink.

The interior is minimal and playful, with a pink wall adorned with darling illustrations of the bakery’s offerings.

Maman

Address: 800 Washington St, New York, NY 10014 (Technically, this is in the Meatpacking District, but it’s a stone’s throw from West Village, and a NYC classic)

There are several Maman locations sprinkled throughout the city. You may recognize their famous blue and white cups from Instagram, along with their quintessential French Country shabby chic décor.

Maman is more than a coffee shop – they have a fantastic bakery but also serve breakfast great breakfast, salads, and sandwiches.

PRO TIP: If you’re venturing south of West Village into Soho, then you can’t miss Maman’s largest location at 375 Hudson St. A central communal table anchor’s the space, surrounded by hanging faux greenery. It’s really beautiful and. my favorite Maman in the city (seen in the below photo).

Hungry Ghost

Hungry Ghost started in 2012 in Brooklyn, but now has a handful of locations throughout New York City. The West Village location is perched along the main drag of Bleecker Street, and its large front window makes it a great spot for people watching.

If you’re looking for a quick coffee break and a pastry, this is an ideal place to visit.

Rosecrans

New York City has really mastered the art of multi-tasking, especially with Rosecrans, a coffee shop and plant shop all rolled into one.

Sit inside amongst the flora and fauna, or if it’s nice out, grab a seat at one of the sidewalk bistro tables.

This is a great spot to visit if you need to grab a bouquet for a special occasion along with your caffeine boost, as they have more unique flowers than the regular bodega assortment.

St. Jardim

Address183 W 10th St, New York, NY 10014

This peaceful, no-laptop corner coffee shop with floor to ceiling windows provides a nice little retreat from the nearby main avenue.

St. Jardim is an all-day café serving espresso, cold brew, and other caffeine favorites along with breakfast and light lunch options. At night, it turns into a natural wine bar with a handful of snacks and dinner options.

Black Stone Coffee Roasters

Fellini Coffee

Address174 7th Ave S, New York, NY 10014

If you’re looking for what may be the tiniest coffee shop in New York City, it may be Fellini Coffee.

At just 16 square feet of indoor space, this Italian coffee shop occupies the tiniest little corner on 7th Avenue and Perry Street.

There’s no indoor seating, so you have to grab and go unless you can find a spot at once of the several tiny tables on the sidewalk.
