Colored faux fur. Those three words are either music to your ears or they terrify you.
Let me tell you my stance on them: I cannot get enough colored faux fur even if my fluffy rainbow-filled self depended on it. I love a faux fur jacket and the fact that there seems to be a color trend in the material makes me ecstatic.
Wearing a gigantic furry number that’s bright pink or blue may sound a little daunting, but I promise it’s not!

My favorite way to wear and to look chic in colored faux fur is really simple. Wear all black and let that statement piece do the talking. Pink furry goodness like this coat here was not meant to not be the star of your outfit, people!
An all black outfit even on it’s own is very sleek, so adding a colored fur coat over it brings in an element of fun to the otherwise serious look. I wanted to elevate my all black get-up so instead of regular black jeans I styled this look with leather pants. The texture of the leather gives the black some depth and dimension.
Last January Matt and I went to NYC, which is literally the best time to buy anything designer. End of season sales are happening at all the nice department stores, so it’s a great time to treat yourself. I scored these star booties there and they are one of my favorite purchases. They’re fun, but the tonal stars make them wearable. I managed to find the last pair on earth and if you’re a 9.5 you better click here fast.
There are a ton of really affordable faux fur coats out there, so if you’re not sure about the look then start there and work your way up into investing in a more expensive one if/when you feel comfortable. H&M is always a great store for affordable faux fur. My black coat from this post is from there! That store is wear my addiction started, and now this pink gem is in my closet waiting for NYFW.
