Every spring I start to ditch my black shoes and pull out/buy all of the neutrals. I also forgo contrast and dark denim for lighter, airy fabrics and lighter colors. Often, black is just too harsh when you want a springtime vibe.
If you’re in need of a seasonal shoe update, here are 4 must-have spring shoes to keep you stylish into summer.
Taupe Booties
I recently scooped these booties up by Sam Edelman a week or so ago. Taupe is a perfect color when you’re not sure what you want to wear; these booties are basically the equivalent to the nude ankle strap heel, IMO. A little western, a little boho, and a little rock and roll, they’ll wear well with cutoffs, mini dresses, and jeans.
Plus, this color elongates the leg to make it look miles long. They’re a great choice on those tricky spring days when it’s still chilly out, but you want to wear a spring color palette.
White Sneakers
Everyone needs a pair of great, white leather sneakers. I’ve had a bunch of different styles over the past couple of years, from Nike to Adidas. But these white leather sneakers by Veja take the cake on my favorite white sneakers. Here’s why:
- They have no print, no contrasting color, and a barely there logo, so you can wear these with anything from jeans to dresses
- They are leather, so easier to clean than my beloved canvas versions from previous seasons
- A slim silhouette makes these sneakers more polished and pristine-looking than some sportier versions
- The price is reasonable: I was caught between very affordable $60 shoes and designer versions at $300+ but none of them were ever what I wanted
Espadrilles
Espadrilles are my go-to savior shoe when it starts to warm up, but you haven’t been able to hit the nail salon for a pedicure. Every woman has encountered this day. It gets randomly hot, you’re about to pull out and dust off your sandals, and then you look down to find very old polish on those toes.
Enter the espadrille. Espadrilles are the step in between a sneaker/bootie and a full-blown sandal. If it’s too hot to wear a bootie but you’re feet aren’t sandal ready, these $99 Soludos gems are your new shoe BFFs. (Shop more Soludos here.)
Neutral Slides
I’ve worn the living daylights out of my black Gucci slides. I’m convinced that they are truly God’s solution to a nice shoe when you don’t want to wear a heel. I’ve worn them to business meetings, with dress pants, and out to fancy dinners. But I’ve also worn them with a t-shirt and jeans.
So this spring I was on the hunt for a lighter, more seasonally appropriate shoe that could do the same thing and wouldn’t be too harsh against pastels and whites. These woven pointed toe slides have been my solution as the spring alternative to my Guccis (and much, much cheaper).
Although the open weave makes things these slightly more casual, the pointed toe maintains structure and polish (aka why you can wear to a profesh meeting.) to the shoe.
SIZE NOTE: All of these run pretty TTS, I am usually a 6.5/7 (mostly a 7) and wear a 7 in all of the above.
