Vanity Planet Facial Steamer Review

As a woman in her mid-30s, I already have an established skincare routine and have pretty much found the right products for my skin. However, I am always up to try new gadgets, especially the ones that can help to minimize signs of aging and help my skincare products work even harder. And one of my favorite said skincare devices is the Vanity Planet Aira Ionic Facial Steamer. The Vanity Planet Aira Facial Steamer hydrates the skin and detoxifies clogged pores, and in this post I’m giving it a full, in-depth review.

Vanity Planet Facial Steamer Review

Vanity Planet is a southern California based company specializing in skincare devices, beauty accessories, and even skincare products. Although I haven’t tried everything by the brand, I own and use their LED Travel Mirror (a great suitcase essential); their facial ice roller; and of course, their Aira facial steamer.

This facial steamer is usually $125 on the brand’s website but goes on sale often, and you can use code CAMILLEXVP for added savings. I also listed a few other retailers where you can shop this steamer at the bottom of this post.

Other facial steamers on the market range from budget styles like this one from Conair ($41) to this pro version from Dr. Dennis Gross ($149).

Vanity Planet Facial Steamer Benefits

I have combination skin, so I’m always trying to find ways to hydrate my skin while improving its texture and avoiding blackhead. Because this steamer uses an ion generator that enriches the water molecules, the steam can penetrate your skin’s surface even deeper to open and melt dirt and debris from clogged pores.

There are a ton of other great benefits to steaming your face including exfoliation, increasing blood circulation for a youthful glow, and allowing your skincare products to absorb better. But aside from the skincare benefits, sitting down for a quick steam session is also just downright relaxing. It’s like a mini spa day right at home!

Vanity Planet Facial Steamer Features

  • 85ml water tank for 15 minutes of facial steaming
  • Essential oil baskets for added fragrance
  • Heats up in less than 60 seconds
  • Adjustable nozzle to direct steam
  • Automatic shut off
  • Sleek, minimal design

Vanity Planet Facial Steamer Design

I’m the kind of person who wants functional, but also nice-looking products. I love the design of this Vanity Planet facial steamer. This is especially key if you plan on keeping your steamer on your counter – nobody wants a clunky device that looks like it’s from the 90s.

I enjoy the sleek, glossy white design of this steamer, but my favorite feature are the sticky legs on the bottom so that it stays in place while using it.

Although I’ve seen a few reviews out there mentioning that this device is a little large, I must disagree. All facial steamers I have seen are generally this same size, and except for the pricier version from Dr. Dennis Gross, most of them aren’t that visually appealing.

More about the Steamer

The steamer has a small water tank that slides flush into the back of the device. It’s big enough for one 15-minute session. My only complaint about this steamer is that it calls for distilled water, so I always have a gallon on-hand. Although it’s a little annoying, distilled water is cheap to purchase and I like the steamer enough that overall, it’s really a non-issue.

There’s an adjustable nozzle so you can angle the steam to your preference, and it comes with extra nozzle baskets in case you want to take your steam session to the next level with essential oil.

With a single power button, it’s easy to use, and steam will start flowing in about 60 seconds.

How To Use The Vanity Planet Facial Steamer

step 1

Make sure the steamer is on a flat surface. Fill the water tank with distilled water, slide it into the device, then plug it in and press the power button.

step 2

Use the steamer on dry, cleansed skin. Without getting too close, place your face in front of the steam. Move around every so often so that the steam hits all angles and areas of your face.

step 3

After 15 minutes, or when the water runs out, the Vanity Planet facial steamer will automatically turn off. Give your face a rinse, then continue your skincare routine with any serums and moisturizers you normally use.

Although it’s really easy to love the Vanity Planet Aira Ionic Facial Steamer, to avoid irritation you should only use it a couple times a week.

Is The Vanity Planet Aira Facial Steamer Worth It?

Overall, yes.

I try to be consistent in using this steamer, but I’m not perfect. I’ll go through phases when I’m obsessed with it and then phases when I forget I own it.

However, when I do use this Vanity Planet facial steamer consistently, my skin is clearer, it’s less dull, and the pores on my nose (an area where I can ALWAYS see them) appear noticeably smaller. I also notice, especially in the winter, that my skin feels hydrated and generally softer than when just using serums and oils alone.

And while it’s hard to tell by just looking in my mirror if my products are penetrating deeper and actually working better, I’ve received a thumbs up from my esthetician on multiple occasions that my skin looks good on a microscopic level.

I also simply just love the feeling of relaxation after using this steamer.

Even if I can’t make it to a real facial appointment, I can at least fake the feeling of one, and reap a few skincare benefits while I’m at it.

Although it’s not the cheapest facial steamer out there, it’s also not the most expensive. I like the look of it and it’s also functional. If using distilled water is a dealbreaker for you, then this isn’t going to be the steamer for you, but I highly encourage you not to let that deter you from purchasing it.

This easy to use, accessible device works on practically all skin types (consult a professional if you’re worried or have sensitive skin) and will leave your skin hydrated and glowy.

If you’re shopping the Vanity Planet Aira Facial Steamer on the brand’s website, use code CAMILLLEXVP for added savings.
