As an Angeleno, I don’t get to wear coats that often, but I must admit that I am an absolute sucker for outerwear. There have been many times where Matt has had to kindly remind me that we live in a climate that hardly ever rains, let alone snows. But when I saw this gold puffer jacket back in December, I had to have it.
I made my friend trek all through various H&M stores in New York City to find it for me because it sold out online. (It’s still sold out, but I found a handful of other gold puffer jackets that I linked below. I got you, girl!) I knew instantly back in December that I wanted this coat for NYFW because, well let’s be honest, it’s definitely a conversation starter. And if you can’t wear a giant gold puffer jacket for NYFW, when can you?
In the spirit of not being too extra, since this thing speaks for itself, I kept everything else SUPER simple. Whenever I wear a statement piece or something “out there” like this, I keep everything else in my comfort zone. I find that by doing that, I’m a lot more confident in the look. I’m able to have some fun while still maintaining a sense of who I am, since the other pieces are very “me”. You can’t spell Camille without jeans. Okay, yes you can, but you know what I mean. I’m a denim darling through and through, so I wore none other than my favorite pair of faded high-rise jeans.
I completed the look with a sleek, fitted black turtleneck to show off the puffiness of the gold coat. I think Black and gold is very chic when it comes to jewelry. Only, in this instance the jacket serves as the gold bling! Since I was in NYC, I wanted to look good but still be practical and so these Jeffrey Campbell sock booties fit the bill. There’s no chance anyone can walk in stilettos on Soho cobblestone streets but the block heel on these babies worked!
Surprisingly, this fluffy thing kept me very warm, and it was really fun to wear. Now if only these LA temps would drop so I could show the city what it’s missing!
