Hi there! I have some very exciting news to share with you. Today I’m introducing a brand-new series on Charmed by Camille: The Road Trip Series. This series just sort of came around by accident, and today I’m sharing why I started it and what I hope you can get out of it.
How The Road Trip Series Started
Back in April, Matt and I started taking day trips around Los Angeles every Saturday. I dubbed them as isolation road trips. These day trips were fun, and they got us out of the house. We stayed in our car about 90% of the time, only really getting out for fresh air, photos, or when supporting a local restaurant with a take-out order. They were great for our mental sanity; we came to appreciate drives that were usually filled with traffic otherwise, and just seeing somewhere new made our Saturdays feel special. (See our day trips in this post.)
Each week I shared our trips on Instagram. I received many kind messages about how you loved “getting out of the house” with me, even if it was through a phone screen.
Fast forward to today, and California is very much mostly still closed. I truly believe in the importance of taking a vacation, but I’m nowhere ready to get on a plane. I’d recently been thinking that surely I wasn’t be the only person in need of a vacation but avoiding planes. I began to think of all of the places we could vacation by car, which ultimately led me to my idea for The Road Trip Series.
What is The Road Trip Series?
Each month (hopefully!) through the end of the year, we’ll be visiting and sharing different COVID-friendly road trip locations in and out of California. These spots won’t be big cities. In fact, our aim is to stay in areas with open space that have a more nature than my normal NYC trips. The more we can social distance peacefully while still getting out of Los Angeles, the better.
If you live in California, I hope these trips provide inspiration for travel plans despite our weird world right now. If you don’t live in California, I at least hope that you can mentally escape with me through these blog posts and on Instagram by taking a virtual vacation with me. (You can also bookmark these posts for whenever you’re ready to catch a plane out west.)
Stay tuned for a recap on the first destination of The Road Trip Series: Palm Springs!
This is such a good idea!
