When it comes to fall fashion, I think it’s safe to say we’re all well versed in the basics. Sweaters, booties, leggings, etc. But I also LOVE to try new trends that were simply just too hot for summer. One trend piece I’m excited to wear non-stop this fall is a denim dress. Today I’m sharing my favorite denim dresses for fall, including my exact dress that’s gotten me endless compliments since I got it.

The Perfect Transitional Fall Piece
Unless you live in the part of the country that’s already gone full Autumn, dressing right now can be tricky. Too cold for a stand-alone sun dress? Not ready to fully commit to finally putting on actual pants? I get. Enter the perfect transitional piece for fall: the denim dress.
READ THIS POST for two ways to transition your summer dress to fall.
I’ve seen denim dresses popping up all over the place since late August. And that’s because they are great options for crazy in-between fall weather.
Fall denim is typically heavier than its summer counterparts. With a denim dress, you’ll get the warmth you need up top while still being able to enjoy the final days of bare legs.
As it cools off, swap out sandals to booties, or add a leather jacket if needed.
Another bonus? You can also wear a denim dress as the weather transitions from cool to warm come spring. It’s not just a “one month out of the year” item, so consider investing in a quality piece.
My Denim Dress Outfit
It’s so fun with the different patchwork-like washes and puffy sleeves! But the fit is truly impeccable. (The brand is Australian, so be sure to look at size charts when purchasing. I’m a true size 4 and wearing an AUS 8.)
I initially thought that the different washes along with the statement sleeves would make this a difficult dress to wear regularly, but I’m happy to report that’s not the case at all. I wore this dress a few times in NYC – first with silver boots and then with brown ankle boots – and every time I wore it, I got compliments. Talk about a dress that really boosts the ego!
My brown boots are sold out, but here’s a similar and more affordable option.
