Today I’m talking about subtle winter sparkle that’s really easy to extend beyond the holiday season. Why save all that glitter for just one time of year?
To me this outfit is like a, “I’m hanging out at a friend’s house for NYE and want to be festive but not extra since we’re not going out.” This sweater and embellished jean combo is perfect for a low-key New Year’s Ever fete, but it’s also a great outfit for January and beyond.
Let’s start with this sweater by AG Jeans. You can’t totally tell from these photos but there’s a bit of metallic sparkle woven into this sweater. I love that the sparkle is subtle, because it means you can wear this into the New Year. I think it would be really cute too with a pair of white jeans for some winter white as it gets closet to spring. Gray (aka the best neutral) means that it will go with everything!
The silhouette of this sweater is slightly cropped and a bit boxy but I personally love the shape because it’s different from the other sweaters I own (aka oversized potato sacks). I’m not one for showing midriff so if you can pull it off then fabulous. However, I’ll be wearing this like in these photos; half-tucked into some high-rise jeans. How cute are the bell sleeves?

Onto the jeans – I mean, yes please! Embellishments can be hit or miss, but I love the detail down the side of each leg. To me they remind me of the Milky Way (which is probably why the wash is called meteor shower – also by AG Jeans). It’s a subtle nod to stars and moons without being so literal. And you know I’ve never met start anything I didn’t like!
Anyway, you can definitely wear these after NYE. If you don’t want to be so winter wonderland with the sweater, then try a sleek black turtleneck and let the jeans do the talking.
I do have a small confession here; I was too excited to shoot these jeans and I really should’ve hemmed them but rolled them up instead. So, they kind of look a little funny on me, TBH. If you’re around 5’6” you’re probably solid gold and don’t need to do anything, but for all you shorties out there just know ahead of time that in order to have these jeans look like how they do on the model, you’re going to have to pop out some extra cash for a hem.
The countdown to 2018 is definitely on at this point so I’m just wrapping up the year and making some goals for the blog for 2018. Are you ready for the New Year?
