In Partnership with Secret
For those of you who’ve been following me for a while, you know that blogging is only a part-time gig for me and that I have a full-time job. I’m constantly on the go, so I have to be really thoughtful about how I plan each day.
My life during the week isn’t really that glamorous, which is also why I don’t post very many Insta Stories M-F. Typically, it starts with me going to the gym, showering there, and then I go to work. About 1 – 2 times a week there’s a blogger event at night, so I go straight from work to wherever I need to be. Basically, from 6am – 7pm Monday through Friday, I live out of a gym bag. On the weekends it’s not much different; I try to shoot in the morning, then run errands or go to brunch with Matt after.
Over the past couple of years I’ve learned what works for me when I’m going from here to there and back again so today I’m sharing that with you.
I always try to carry a makeup palette with me because I hate lugging around a ton of makeup in a bag. Also, from experience, it really sucks when you leave your makeup bag at work and have somewhere to be that night and you’re left without anything since it’s all in that bag. Do yourself a favor and invest in a palette that has the essentials. This way, even if you forget it somewhere you’re not stranded without a face (or about to be down a couple hundred bucks when you go re-buy everything). One of my favorites is this palette by Charlotte Tilbury because it has everything for eyes, cheeks, and face.
Pack a black cardigan and always have flip-flops on hand. Los Angeles seems to be notorious for cranking up the AC wherever I go, so I usually have some kind of black cardigan on-hand in case I get cold or if an event turns out being outside. I choose black because it goes with everything, and instantly makes anything a bit more “nighttime.”
Anyone who has been in my car has always found flip-flops. I’ll wear them after the gym on the way to work; putting on shoes right after you shower is so uncomfortable, if you ask me. They’re also great to have while driving to give my feet some relief before going to the next place.
This is also probably a no-brainer but carrying a deodorant is a major key in living that on-the-go life. The thing about carrying deodorant from place to place is you need to have the right kind. For years I carried traditional stick deodorants and would find them awkwardly melted from the sun and unable to use, always when I seemed to need them most. Let me tell you, a melted stick applies really weird and always ends up somewhere on the outside of whatever it is you’re wearing.
Secret recently reached out to me with their new Invisible Spray. I’ve wanted to find something as an alternative to my melted stick situation for a while now and this really couldn’t have been more perfect timing.
I put it to the test at a recent shoot because I wanted to see even in hotter, more stressful conditions if the Invisible Spray would work. When I shoot, I shoot a handful of looks at a time and change in my car. So imagine me, stuffing myself into a huge sweater in the backseat of my car when it’s 80 degrees outside. Needless to say I finished the shoot and went on with my day feeling fresh and clean.
This stuff has been in my gym bag ever since and now part of my on-the-go kit. My favorite scent is the Secret Invisible Spray in Boho Berry because it almost doubles as a perfume in addition to it being a deodorant with its fresh berry fragrance. (I love it when things make your life easier, don’t you?)
If you’re not sure which type of deodorant is best for you – you can always take their fun quiz at www.SecretProductMatch.com.
So there you have it, folks. How I stay put together throughout my crazy life in a handful of ways: makeup palettes; a cardigan and flip-flops; and the right deodorant in convenient spray form.
I am so stealing that bag and everything that is in it! 😉
Love,
Nikki

Hi Kabi, thank you! I have a Nikon D5500 but some of the other photos were taken by my photographer. Not sure what she uses. Sorry!
