I can’t believe it’s already November. This year has totally flown by for me. I’ve been traveling a lot more for my full-time job and have been busier than ever with Charmed by Camille, so my sense of time is way off. It seems like it was just August, doesn’t it?
I’m looking at the calendar realizing that I better start getting my act together for Thanksgiving dinner! Now that the holiday season is in full swing and the weather feels right, I can finally break out my plaid shirts!
Traditional red plaid always feels so festive and cozy, but I always love finding their less “holiday” counterparts because I seem to wear them longer throughout the season.
I’ve always been pretty causal with my plaid shirts, pairing them with knee high boots or a snuggly beanie. So, I challenged myself here to think outside of the box with this plaid shirt from Madewell and dress it up a bit. The truth is, you don’t have to save plaid for a rainy day. I made this plaid shirt totally date night acceptable. Comfortable and chic? Yes please!
This plaid shirt has a slightly billowy silhouette, but my favorite part about the shirt is the cute sleeves! This little detail totally elevates the top. It’s such a subtle detail but really take the top from shirt to blouse, which I think also helps the case to dress it up.
Like I mentioned above, I wanted to give this plaid shirt more of a date night vibe than night in and so I paired it with my favorite heels. These black suede heels are really one of the only pair of heels that I consistently wear. They were a splurge, but when it comes to stilettos I fully believe in investing in a pair that don’t kill your feet. Plus, they’re classics, so as long as you take care of them by spraying and brushing the fabric, they’ll last for a really long time. Here’s a similar pair that’s much more affordable!
I finished the look with some silver and black leather accessories. I love how the shirt has the uneven detail on the sides, which makes it really easy to tuck in and show off belts like this grommet one I’m wearing here. Shop the entire look below.
Cheers to November and dressing up plaid! (PS. this also makes a very cute Thanksgiving outfit – I’d swap out the jeans for leggings though!) 🙂
