I’m all about that cozy life now that the holidays are in full swing. When Matt and I went to NYC, I was so happy to get out of the 80 degree heat and put on actual pants and shoes. So I decided to treat myself to this striped sweater.
This striped sweater caught my eye right before our trip, and I clicked the buy button so fast, even my brain had to catch up with my fingers. It’s is definitely an investment piece, but I believe in splurging on things that really make your heart flutter. For me, it was this. Probably because I was just so happy to be shopping for a different climate.
I love the black and white, but the red and coral accents add a little something extra. And I think it’s super fun that when you turn around, the sweater looks completely different than the front. I’m wearing my normal size small, and decided to roll up the sleeves into oversized cuffs. If you want a more fitted look, size down.
Although I’m wearing it with jeans, (wearing this pair by Levi’s) this sweater is definitely cozy and long enough for leggings. Try a pair of faux leather ones like these – they’ll keep you comfortable while looking chic.
My boots are also new! I packed a pair of black ankle booties for NYC and when I went to put them on for dinner, I found myself with a left and right from two different sets. Major fail. I had packed last minute, which is further proof to myself that I am just not a last minute packer. I probably would’ve worn the mismatched set but we were in NYC for the marathon and I didn’t want to mess up my feet with slightly different heels and arches.
So I “had” to buy these and decided to get a fun pair instead of another plain black kind. These are by Anine Bing and I’ve wanted them since I saw them at a store in Park City 2 years ago. I am in love with them. Usually I go for a suede bootie but love the smooth leather and studded detail on these.
I walk around a lot in NYC, it’s always important to me to have functional outfits. No super high heels for me, especially since it rained this day. The fun striped sweater and detailed booties added the perfect level of style to an otherwise very simple, minimal look. This is how I usually dress when I’m out in about in real life. So, I wanted to share this with you since it’s simple, but stylish.
