The Tie Dye Skirt: One Piece Two Ways #1

In partnership with Amanda Uprichard

All spring and summer I have been low key obsessed with all things tie dye, so you can imagine my excitement when Amanda Uprichard asked me to style her tie dye skirt not one, but TWO ways.

If you’re new here, each month I write back to back blog posts sharing One Piece, Two Ways. And this month just might be the most fun, colorful thing I’ve ever worn in my life!

Read on to get all the outfit details, then check back tomorrow to see how I totally switch things up with this tie dye skirt.

The Tye Die Skirt

First things first; let’s talk about this major tie dye skirt. One of the biggest reasons why I love Amanda Uprichard so much is because her pieces are simple, yet perfectly tailored with a touch of femininity. There’s always a pretty drape, button detail, or ruffle somewhere in her designs.

In true AU fashion, this high-low wrap skirt has the prettiest ruffle along the hem and is oh-so-flowy. It’s obviously a wrap style but features a hidden, adjustable button enclosure to prevent the waist from falling. And it’s fully lined, so you don’t have to worry about anything being see through!

SIZE NOTE: I am wearing a small so that the skirt hits me high on my waist. I’m normally a size 26 so this is true to size; but could have done a medium if I wanted it to sit lower on my body.

Tie dye is a huge trend and from the looks of the internet, I don’t think it’ll be going anywhere this fall. Now, a tie dye t-shirt is easy to throw on with a pair of jeans or denim shirts, but I wanted to show you how to step outside of the box with this trend and this skirt.

So first, I’m going to dress it up!

Supporting Pieces

The inspiration for this outfit was loosely based on a fancy vacation dinner, maybe somewhere in Europe on the coast? Hey, why not, right?

My first instinct was to pair this tie dye skirt with a white top to really let the skirt be the star. This under $100 peasant top was perfect for my skirt; simple but with some texture thanks to the smocked detail. How cute are the puffy sleeves?! FYI, I went up a size in this top and got a medium to be a little more comfortable.

Speaking of comfortable, I cannot truly express how much I love these Stuart Weitzman block heel sandals. The front of each shoe is sleek and simple, and the heel is easy to walk in thanks to the block shape. These are definitely a bit of a splurge, but one of my go-to sandals for everything from business meetings to dinner to weddings. I love the brown suede because it transitions nicely between seasons and isn’t too harsh in the summer. But this silhouette comes in a ton of other styles including the classic patent nude.

To keep this outfit on the dressier side, I added a little bit of metallic with this bamboo handle gold lame bag and layered some necklaces (linked below).

You find find this Amanda Uprichard tie dye skirt exclusively on her website, or on Shopbop.
