I am happy to report that with just one week left until Christmas, it’s finally cooler in Southern California! Rejoice! I love being cozy on the weekends in cool weather, but it’s always less than glamorous. I’m usually in a sweatshirt, leggings, and Uggs unless I have somewhere really specific to go. I can’t help it! I love a comfy, cozy weekend outfit.
I’m not really big into New Year’s Resolutions, but there’s something about the looming New Year that makes me want to start fresh on some things. For me, that always seems to include a mindset to get dressed in actual clothing even when I don’t have to. So, this past weekend I threw aside my go-to leggings for the equally comfy pair of velvet joggers by Splendid.

True, I’m not in a ball gown and it’s not too much of a departure from leggings, but baby steps – right? These velvet joggers are basically gloried pajamas and making lounging a bit more luxurious than my stretchy pants (although there is an elastics waistband).
I paired these easy pants with a tissue soft striped shirt (only $19 and available in a handful of other colors and stripes). I went down a size to an XS and there’s still plenty of room for a comfortable fit. This shirt is a little longer in the back so also perfect just in case you did want to wear with leggings. 😉
My comfy Uggs got an athleisure update with these super sparkly, seasonally appropriate glitter sneakers by Tretorn. Aren’t they fun? I always opt for a basic sneaker and so I decided to get something different this time around. The glitter is a light pink but they are also available in a blue-silver glitter. I had some initial hesitation because I was worried that the glitter would end up all over my house. I haven’t seen as much as a fleck! The glitter totally stays put on the shoe. Let’s just say the only glitter I’m vacuuming is from that gorgeous and equally annoying wrapping paper. I know you know what I’m talking about.
So there you have it! My easy upgrade to my typical sweatshirt and leggings weekend uniform.

Thanks Jessica! These are so comfy and yes I agree – much more chic than my sad leggings and beat up sweatshirts. Also comes in handy if I get a last minute invite somewhere and I can look effortless. Aren’t the sneakers fun?! A perfect upgrade to the usuals.
