Today I’m rounding up a bunch of pleated midi skirts! They add visual interest to any outfit because of the texture, and they’re really versatile.
In this previous post, I shared some tips on how to style a graphic t-shirt. There, I paired my graphic t-shirt with a midi skirt. It’s one of my favorite ways to wear a graphic tee! I’m a repeat offender and doing that again here, but with a midi skirt this time. I love adding a belt to any midi skirt because it really cinches my waist and gives me more definition. Since this is a black on black look, I felt like a belt was even more necessary. I love this stone belt from Maje.
This shirt says “New York or Nowhere” and it’s my favorite t-shirt by the brand Knowlita. You can find a ton of their stuff online exclusively at Saks.com. They have a ton of other cities so the shirts aren’t just limited to NYC, but you all know how much I love that place so this was fitting. And what about this star bag?! In addition to NYC I’m obsessed with all things stars so this was a must-have. I originally saw it at the Shopbop open house during NYFW. It’s sold out there but I found it at Bloomingdale’s. Honestly, it’s so cute and such a fun accessory. Plus it’s only $75.

Anyway,I used to think that pleated midi skirts were only for tall people and that someone my height (5’4″) couldn’t wear them. But after trying this pleated midi, I don’t think that’s true at all. It’s really just about proportions. Since the skirt is on the longer side, balance the top by having a fitted skirt and tuck it in like I’ve done here.
When it gets a little cooler, I’m going to wear a slouchy sweater with the pleated skirt and swap out booties for sneakers. If you wear a sweater, then be sure it’s a little oversized and don’t tuck it in. If you’re still self conscious about a pleated skirt making you look shorter, than you best best is always a pair of heels. Pleated skirts can we dressed up or down and they look fabulous with a pair of ladylike black pumps. Here’s a handful of pleated skirts I’m loving. I’ve particularly got my eye on the metallic ones – they’re prefect for the holiday season but fun for a little daytime sparkle.
