Today is the second installment of this month’s “One Piece Two Ways” series. Yesterday I paired my white button up shirt with some jeans and flats, but today it’s getting an upgrade.
I might no longer work in a “real” office, but that doesn’t mean I can’t serve up some boardroom outfit inspo! Wear your white shirt all weekend, and then show up on Monday in this outfit ready to crush it.
Given the timelessness of the white button up shirt, I chose an equally timeless counterpart: the black pencil skirt. With its asymmetrical hem and wrap style, this pencil skirt is a fun spin on a classic. It also comes in navy (which was sold out in my size at the time, otherwise I totally would have gotten it) and white. How chic would an all white outfit be with some nude sandals? I may need to get that now, and just set up my own board meeting at home with Audrey! (Shop more pencil skirts here.)
There aren’t belt loops on this skirt, but that didn’t stop me from adding a cute leopard print belt to give this just a little something extra. My exact belt is sold out, but here is a similar one to get the same effect.
Nothing says BOSS LADY like a killer pair of heels. I’ve gushed about these Manolo Blahnik suede pumps before, but let me repeat myself when I say these are the most comfortable pair of designer heels I own. If you want a pair of designer heels, get these. Sure, after 8 hours any type of stiletto is going to kill your foot, but I love these. The cut is beautiful and they go just to that right point before the toes where you’re showing enough toe cleavage, but not too much. I’m still saving for a pair in nude, that’s how much I love them. Plus in black suede, you’ll have them forever. (I’ve linked a more affordable version below.)
My final touch to complete this look is some red lipstick. Nothing says power like a red lip, and my go-to red is Jungle Red by NARS. (I also rounded up a handful of my favorite reds from Sephora in this post.)
This outfit is simple, but it has classic and powerful elements: a tucked in shirt, a well-fitting skirt, a fun pop of leopard, and go get ‘em red. I hope this inspires you to go kick some butt out there!
