The Tie Dye Skirt: One Piece Two Ways #2

In partnership with Amanda Uprichard

Hi friend! Today I’m sharing a second way to style this killer tie dye skirt from Amanda Uprichard. If you missed the first post, click here to see it.

I was so excited to highlight this tie dye skirt as this month’s One Piece, Two Ways star item. I always want the pieces in my closet to get the most mileage they can, but it’s a bonus when you can dress something up or down. This skirt fits the bill!

Yesterday’s post was all about a little date night or fancy moment, and today I dressed it down for a totally cooler vibe. Here’s the 4-1-1- on today’s outfit.

I gushed about this skirt yesterday, but if you missed that post, I’ll reiterate it here super quickly.

This wrap skirt is lined so that you can stay cool the rest of summer without worrying about it being see-through. You also don’t have to worry about it falling down thanks to a hidden button on the inside of the waistband. I know these seem like really boring details, but it’s the little things like these that really make or break an item.

And I don’t really need to tell you this since you’re looking at it; but I mean, how pretty is this pastel tie dye situation?

For length and sizing reference, I’m 5’4″ and wearing a small.

T-Shirts Are Always a Good Idea

If you’ve been here for a while, then you know; I love a good graphic tee. You can style anything with a graphic tee and your outfit will instantly be a little more unexpected and a little edgier. Case and point: a tonal graphic tee with this tie dye skirt.

When I saw this graphic t-shirt, I knew this was the shirt for this – it’s the perfect mint shade to compliment the watercolor tones in the skirt. And it’s different than your basic white tee. (Plus, people from LA love wearing shirts that talk about LA, which is also why I got it. I’m here for an 80s vintage-inspired Venice Beach tee any day.)

STYLE TIP: If you have a patterned skirt, ditch your safe black or white top and find one that matches one of the colors of your print. It’ll pick up whatever color your shirt is and can totally change the mood and dominant color of said print.

Accessories Makes the Attitude

In the spirit of keeping things casual and cool, I swapped out my heeled sandals with my favorite white canvas sneakers and added an on-trend fanny bag. (Yep, you don’t have to wear a fanny pack around your waist – just extend the band and wear it like a crossbody.) As of right now, this leather fanny is on sale just just under $100. Grab it before it’s gone!

These sneakers are only $70, and you can keep them white pretty easily as long as you spray them first.

I love this look as an easy weekend outfit when you want to be stylish but comfortable. It’s perfect for a day of city hopping and shopping.
