Stripes and denim are such a classic combo. And while stripes originally earned their keep by way of Parisians, there’s something so Americana to me when you pair them with denim.
I could live in stripes. They are the only print that I really, truly wear. A striped tee is always great, but a striped dress makes dressing a cinch. Sometimes stripes can skew preppy, so to avoid that, I usually pair my stripes with destructed denim or some easy converse sneakers. It toughens them up a bit.
I’m usually really lazy on the weekend until the weather gets warm. I love sleeping in (just a little) on the weekends, doing a good workout, and then getting dressed to set the tone for the rest of the day. An easy striped dress like this with a denim jacket means two things: I can meet friends for lunch and then go run errands without being uncomfortable or overly dressed for either.

I thought that this embroidered-back denim jacket was cute without being too over the top. It’s kind of cute how it looks like a regular denim jacket and then when you turn around you see the “heartbreaker” embroidery. It was also less than $100! Let’s talk about sizing here – I’m wearing a small in both of these pieces but I probably could’ve gotten a medium in this striped dress. It fits close to the body but definitely not body con. If you want something a little more forgiving, then I’d say go up one size on the dress.
I feel like I’ll slowly be adding these dresses to my closet. They are perfect for brunch with my girlfriends. Don’t they all look so comfy, too?! When it finally rolls around to staying hot at night, take the look from day to night by adding a block-heeled sandal.
