Spring arrivals are starting to drop at retailers they totally have me itching for the new season. I’m so different when it comes to dressing in the fall/winter and spring/summer. In the fall, I want sleek and black, with some edge. But once warm weather hits, I turn into the ultimate California girl with worn out jeans, sneakers, and graphic tees. And right now, I fall somewhere in between. I’m craving spring styles but want to maintain some polish since it’s not quite time for flip flops just yet.
Today’s post is a little preview at a big spring trend you can wear now: neutrals. Now if you ask me, I feel like neutrals are always in and on-trend. But according to the Internet* (okay, and the runway shows in September) spring is all about neutral upon neutral.
WEAR IT NOW:
It makes sense that lighter shades of cream, ivory, and buff are here for spring and summer. Their light and airy feel actually make for a great white alternative. But since we’re talking about a spring trend you can wear now (and later), consider picking up something on the darker beige side. This dress by Tibi is simple and versatile. Tiny black buckle details and asymmetrical hem make it more interesting than a plain dress.
Isn’t this purse cute? I love the top handle because it feels more polished, but you can also see in these photos how it looks with the chain strap. And I love the non-traditional color combo. Usually I got for brown or black, so it was fun to have a bag that has black, but also some shades I don’t usually wear.
This is a great polished look for the office. Add a black wool coat if you need another layer. Or consider some tights and heeled booties.
WEAR IT LATER:
As the weather gets warmer, you can roll up the sleeves so that they hit just below your elbow. Adding some crisp white sneakers and a straw bag will dress things down for that laid back, effortless California vibe. (My personal favorite chic would be this perennial favorite by Cult Gaia.)
