Sporty Chic in Plaid Pants

You know those plaid pants you have hanging in your closet? Don’t save them just for work! Plaid is a huge trend this fall; time to make those pants work overtime for the weekend! I love taking an item and adding a tomboy flair to it. So this time around I’m adding a sporty kick to plaid dress pants that you’d normally just wear to work.

I’m a big denim girl, especially in the fall. But I also love to challenge myself to wear non-jean items when I can. So when I saw these dress pants, I decided to style them for the weekend instead of the office.

I got this pair of plaid pants at Club Monaco, but there are SO many cropped plaid pants out there so I linked not only these but a few more really cute pairs below. Rolling up the hem to give a little cuff instantly makes these pants a little more laid back and less proper. (FYI, I am a size 4 and took my regular size and they fit perfect. I am 5’4″ and did not need to have the hemmed, either.) Nothing says sporty chic like a pair of white sneakers. I know I’ve shared these Tretorn sneakers SO many times, but the truth is, they are classic and instantly add a sporty vibe to any look. I love the contrast here between the sneakers and the plaid pants; it’s so fun!

To dress down the pants even more, I opted for this t-shirt rather than any kind of blouse or button up top. You know I love a graphic tee, and the red letters of the “OUI” on my shirt complement my red Rebecca Minkoff bag. Finally, I added just a touch of denim with my favorite denim jacket from Madewell. Let’s get real – I had to add it in somehow! Add in some easy sunnies and you’re good to go!
