Happy September! Whose reason for the new season? I love summer so much, but by the end of it I’m all out of ideas. It’s been a bit cooler these past few days. But it’s supposed to spike up to 91 degrees this weekend. September is always very hot for Southern California, but I’m hoping a few overcast days like the ones we just had will creep in here and there. This month’s edition of Fashion Finds under $200 features 6 mini dresses you can wear now and into crisper temps by adding just 2 key pieces: the denim jacket and the taupe ankle bootie.
As always, if you see something you like on the collage below, just click the image and it’ll take you right to the shopping page.
Let’s talk about the key pieces first. A taupe ankle bootie is super versatile and will go with blacks and browns. I love the slight heel here because it elevates and elongates the legs just a bit while remaining comfortable and casual. You can really do any taupe bootie, but I like the deep slits and details on this pair. (Only $149!)
Next up: the denim jacket. This exact jacket I have talked about so many times, and it’s a workhorse piece. The easiest way to transition these dresses is to simply add this jacket. It’s such a perfect medium blue, which is also seasonally appropriate. (In the fall I like to generally switch over to richer and darker blues.) This silhouette is slightly tailored, while still remaining comfortable and is hands down one of my most worn items I own.
Would you believe that this cute little red ruffled dress I’m wearing here is only $69? I love the bright red because it makes a bold statement, but it’s also a nice color that plays off of the changing leaves. I love that this wrap dress has a crew neck versus the traditional v-neck, because sometimes that can be tricky for me. However, I love love love this soft, buttercup yellow, very similar version. (And the yellow is only $55!)
This hot pink dress looks fab on its own, and I put it on here not just for the color, but also because of the versatility. It would look cute with a bootie, some white sneakers, and even dressed up if you have a casual wedding or somewhere to be.
Leopard is HUGE for fall and this dress is a great balance between wear now, wear later with its short hemline and long sleeves. If you want to get away from bright colors and ease into moodier tones, then I like this floral number from Madewell. Of course, you can’t go wrong with black in the fall, so a polka dot dress like this ¾ sleeve one is always a classic with that denim jacket.
