They’re back! Up until last month, I swore I was never going to wear these so-called “dad sneakers”- but here I am. And on top of that, these are the stars of this month’s edition of One Piece Two Ways.
If you haven’t gotten on the dad sneaker trend, go to this post here to get started. I rounded up a handful of affordable versions including this $90 pair from Aldo I’m wearing in these photos. If you need some inspo on how to wear dad sneakers, then today and tomorrow’s posts are for you.
Dad sneakers are in fact sneakers, and by default give any outfit a sporty vibe. These Aldo sneakers are so lightweight, and I love that they have a slimmer profile than some other styles out there. I took my normal size and they fit perfectly.
Because of this reason, I chose to go along with the altheisure side of things by wearing a crewneck sweatshirt. (I’m very into sweatshirts as casual, out-of-home where, as displayed here, too). Sweatshirts have come a long way since the baggy versions of the late 90s, and many of them have more streamlined shapes to make them more “shirt” and less “dumpy gym clothing.” I love the neutral shade of this because it goes with everything.
If you’re going to wear some serious statement shoes like these kind of sneakers, then may as well show them off. Instead of jeans here, I opted for a casual black denim mini skirt. I like the balance of a girly skirt with the sport sweatshirt and sneakers. My skirt is old by Topshop, but I found an almost identical version for the same price by the brand here. I love when black is a little washed down because it gives that lived-in feel. Plus, you can’t beat $55!
Spring’s crazy weather calls for a backup extra layer, so I brought along my trusty denim jacket just in case. For the finishing touch, I incorporated another sporty element with this fun, gray, goes-with-anything belt bag. (I loosened up the strap to wear as a crossbody, but it goes around your waist as well.)
Check back tomorrow to see another way I’m styling these dad sneakers!
Dad sneakers are my favorite! So easy to wear and style!
