In Partnership with Topshop and Stylinity
It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of anything with stars (as seen here and here). It was pretty much a no brainer that when it came time to choose an outfit for New Year’s Eve, I picked something intergalactic.
New Year’s Eve is always difficult for me when it comes to an outfit. I always want to wear something fun and festive, but I hate spending loads of money on a look that really only spans one night. There’s something nice about getting a new look to start the New Year. I think it’s the thought of starting a new year with something fresh. It’s a clean slate in an outfit that doesn’t have any other memory except that night. So, I love getting something new for the event, but it’s typically with the intention of wearing it again after the ball drops.
Matt and I have no idea what we’re doing yet (oops) but I want to be prepared, so I picked this asymmetrical star dress from Topshop. I was worried about the hem being too long or looking awkward, but I actually really love where it hits. It’s a nice change from a mini skirt and more fun than a traditional midi length. The stars are embroidered, so it makes the dress seem a lot more expensive than it is. Word to the wise, the plunge is a bit deep, so you need to consider your undergarments with this dress. I wore it without a bra, but you can easily get some, ahem, covers if you don’t feel comfortable going bare under there.
LA always has the craziest weather (and the coldest restaurants) so I wore this easy knit black cardigan over the dress. It’s really old but I found a similar one with the same length here.
Due to the fact that NYE is the last official day of the season where you can really go all out in terms of sparkle, I snagged these platform sandals with the fun fake diamonds on them. I’m all about overindulging on the glitz during this time of year!
