As a Los Angeles resident, my weekends are filled with a lot of fun but also a lot of errands. Errands on the weekday are pretty much out of the question because rush hour traffic is terrible, and my full-time job isn’t near much but a Target and IKEA. Although, I have to say, the IKEA proximity is legit because who wants to go to IKEA on the weekend ever? Nobody. It’s like Costco on the weekend. Avoid.
Anyway, like I was saying, while I do a lot of fun things on the weekends, I also need to always get a lot done. That means I need to dress accordingly. No cute wedges or sandals for me, unless I’ve reserved a day solely for brunch. So, I’ve really had to nail the perfect weekend uniform to take me all over the City of Angels.
Here’s my weekend uniform when I need to run errands:
Comfy jeans – Because I’m trying to stop wearing Lululemon leggings out of the house unless I’m going to actually work out, comfortable jeans are the next best thing. Don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely a skinny jeans gal, but on the weekend, nope. A loose pair of boyfriend jeans do the trick, particularly because I don’t want to be stuck in my car feeling fat and uncomfortable. The joys of LA traffic. If you don’t want baggy boy jeans, try these Levi’s that I’m wearing in these photos. They are high rise and mold to your body for a true, worn-in feel.
Sunglasses – Sunnies are an absolute must in LA. I’m in my car A LOT on the weekends, partially because LA is not a walking town, and also because I’m just in traffic. There is nothing worse to me than driving head on into the sun and not having sunglasses. Plus I’m trying really hard not to squint and furrow my eyebrows to avoid those little 11 lines you get between your eyes. #firstworldproblems
Here’s a bunch that I’m currently loving:
P.S I’m wearing DIFF sunglasses here. They donate reading glasses to someone in need for every pair of sunnies sold. They also provide designer looks at affordable, less than designer price. It’s a win win!
A crossbody bag – Los Angeles could basically be Disneyland, with all of the parking structures you have to enter and lines to get in after you pick up all your stuff. Would you take a satchel to Disneyland that had no shoulder strap? I hope the answer is no. I love a good crossbody. It lets me carry all my junk to my car without having to worry about a thing. This one from Madewell is big enough to hold the essentials but tiny enough where I don’t have to worry about it at all. Heck, I can even sit down and enjoy a quick lunch without even taking it off, and it doesn’t bother me.
