Happy Halloween! I will be saying this until right up until Thanksgiving, but… it’s still 80 degrees. I have ditched all summer dresses in favor of monochromatic warm tones, hoping that if I wear it, fall will come. That’s how the saying goes, right?

First up is this cozy brown knit sweater. You may recognize it from this post with my navy slip skirt. Although I don’t show it much on here, I am very much an outfit/piece repeater so you’re seeing this sweater again. #notsorry
This brown knit sweater is super cozy and to me a perfect shade of brown to match with my fall closet. Line & Dot is a brand I discovered last year, and they make amazing affordable sweaters, most of them under $100. SIZE NOTE: The sweater is slightly cropped; I’m wearing a medium for a looser fit.
Back in September I released CHARMED, my first fully shoppable online magazine. It was all about my favorite trends for fall, one of them being head-to-toe color. And while the theme in the magazine spoke to brighter, non-traditional fall brights, I’m all about monochrome dressing no matter the color.
I found these faux leather paper bag pants in an almost identical brown shade to match my sweater. And you won’t even believe where they are from – Target! Who What Wear Collection for Target is always one of my go-to destinations when I need a trendy piece without the price tag. These pants are only $35 but shop quick because sizes are super limited. (I’ve also linked a couple of other brown faux leather pants below, just in case!)
I love a monochromatic look because you can take it from casual to fancy and back again with literally one easy change: your shoes.
Now, you know my daytime shoe of choice is a white sneaker. (These are my favorite canvas sneakers; these are my favorite leather ones.) But for you, for these photos, I decided to put on my big gal heels and show you that even a slouchy sweater can look chic with a pair of heels.
Next time you’re staring at your closet with nothing to wear, try a monochromatic look like this one!
