Midi Skirt: The Lazy Girl’s Summer Piece

Okay, I am going to be completely honest here: I am out of summer outfit ideas. So I am kind of thrilled to be putting all of my breezy dresses on hold for a hot second while I jet off to NYC for Fashion Week tomorrow and next week.

But until then, here’s basically what I’ve been wearing on repeat while I wait for fall: a midi skirt with a lightweight top.

Remember this white tie linen crop top? I wore it with shorts for this all-white look earlier this month. And in the spirit of trying to show you how I style a single piece multiple ways (aside from my monthly “One Piece, Two Ways” posts) I’m bringing it back today.

Only today, I’m wearing it with this red floral midi skirt.

STYLE TIP: a midi skirt is an easy way to look like you really tried, when you didn’t. I’ve been pairing all of my skirts with this top or graphic tees. The result? A totally cute, “I totally got ready for this” even though you didn’t outfit.

A midi skirt might be the lazy gal’s summer piece, but you can also transition it into fall with a pair of booties and snuggly sweatshirt. As you shop for midi skirts, be mindful of colors like red, navy, and even tans that’ll easily take you from wear now to wear later. (FYI, go up one size on this skirt, it runs a little small.)

Totally random side note – my sandals are a major steal and currently on sale for $25! Now if you ask me, that’s a purchase you can’t feel bad about.

If transitional dressing is on your mind, here are some midi skirts (all under $100) I’m currently crushing on:

Are you team #summerforever or are you ready for fall? I’m ready to hang up some of my dresses in favor of layers. While I love easy dressing, I think you can be way more creative with outfits when it’s cooler out.

But I definitely will miss my tan come October. And my sandals. The grass is always greener, right?
