Leopard Coat: One Piece Two Ways #1

Last month I started a new series where I style one piece two ways and share the two posts back to back. November featured this satin puff sleeve top that I still can’t stop wearing. (See the posts here and here). This month for December, I’m sharing how to style this leopard coat two ways.

Yes, leopard print is still going strong. And while it is definitely a bold print, you wouldn’t believe how incredible easy it is to wear. In my opinion, leopard is definitely a neutral and one of the only prints I will ever say this about.

I love the silhouette on this coat. Since it hits mid thigh, it’s a little more dressed up than if the coat came to the waist. Something about the longer silhouette makes it a little fancier than a shorter, daytime jacket. It’s also perfectly snuggly for this time of year. Matt and I are going to NYC this Christmas and I am definitely packing this coat. (It’s only $99 and true to size.)

I wanted to keep the first styling of this leopard coat simple and classic. Look, we’ve all been there. You throw on a top and a pair of jeans, and although the outfit is fine, you feel like your look is just missing something. Instantly elevate your style with this coat.

This outfit is the perfect example of sticking to closet classics while still maintaining a stylish appearance. While accessories and fun prints can be awesome, sometimes all you really need are timeless items paired together. Like I mentioned above, leopard print is bold. So let the coat do the talking here and tone down the other pieces in the look.

I’m wearing my go-to black turtleneck (are you sick of seeing this yet?) and tucked it into these high-rise jeans from Citizens of Humanity. These jeans run true to size and are a great medium blue for this time of year. Not too dark, not too light – just right.

I’m going to admit that normally I would leave the outfit as is, but a third piece completes any look (not just this one) and that’s where the leopard coat comes in. Or simply ditch your safe black coat and embrace this print this winter. It’s really fun to wear and you’ll for sure feel sassy in it.

With a pair of these cat-eye sunglasses from Le Specs to finish the look, I can’t help but feel a little retro, like Audrey Hepburn. Maybe I’ll go stop at Tiffany.

Check back tomorrow to see how I style this leopard coat another way.
