Meow. I am officially obsessed with and totally on the bandwagon with leopard print this season. And it’s not going anywhere for holiday, so to fuel my love even further, I just picked up this coat. But for now, let’s talk about this layered leopard maxi dress look, shall we?
I saw this leopard maxi dress on Shopbop and initially it sold out before I could pull the trigger on it. So, like a totally normal person, I stalked the website until it came back in stock just before I left for NYC. I knew I wanted to shoot it the moment I opened the box.
I have some good news and bad news about this dress, though. The bad news is that it sadly sold out again. The good news is that I found a handful of equally pretty leopard print maxi dresses that can accomplish a similar layered look. I linked them all a little lower in this post for you. I’ll keep checking to see if this exact dress ever comes back in stock, so follow me on Instagram because that’s where I’ll post any updates.
Anyway, it was chilly and misty this day, and we shot this just before a downpour came. Talk about lucky timing! I loved the switch up in the weather because it let me layer this look and go outside of my LA wardrobe box! I’ve had this black turtleneck for ages and it’s literally my go-to piece to for layering under EVERYTHING. It’s thin and fits snug to the body, but super soft and oh-so comfortable. It’s a great layering piece and you don’t have to worry about any bulk since it’s thin (but opaque enough where it’s not see through).
SHOP THE LOOK
I swapped out a traditional black wool trench, which is a little more classic, to this BB Dakota teddy coat. It adds some texture and keeps the look playful. Not to mention, it’s super toasty and basically is a glorified blanket you can wear in public. Who wouldn’t want that?
I wanted to define my waist a little since my dress is drapey, so added a black belt. And at the last minute, I thought to add combat boots. I purchased my version during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale earlier this year, but Marc Fisher (the same brand as these) currently has this similar pair on sale for $160. I love that they have a block heel. It elevates a regular combat boot while remaining just as comfy. It also toughens up the femininity of the leopard maxi dress with a subtle nod to the 90s. And bonus, combat boots are great for the rain!
In love with all of the layers! So flawless to me!
