Okay, I need to make the disclaimer that I LOVE Christmas but am so adamant about not having a single fleck of it prior to Thanksgiving. After you eat turkey? Fine, feel free to have a Christmas explosion all over you house. Not a second before, though.
I was at an outdoor mall here in Los Angeles last night and they already had their giant tree up along with a Santa sleigh flying between buildings. I officially can’t go into a mall until Black Friday.
My exception to this, however, is shopping for holiday parties. The thing is, they creep up on you so quickly and all of the good and perfect outfits get sold out right away. So I break my non-holiday mindset rule for this and only this.
When I saw this lace dress (I scooped it up on sale at Shopbop) I instantly knew that I needed it for this season’s holiday parties. FYI – I normally wear a 4 in dresses and am wearing a 6 in this particular dress.
Right now the weather is warm enough to wear this lace dress alone with just booties, but once it gets cold I’ll pair it with opaque tights. There’s also some sheer paneling on it, and I still have yet to figure out that solution to the cold (maybe a black cami?) but hey, you can’t win them all and that’s why they make coats.
To me, lace is the epitome of holiday dressing (other than sequins, obvs) and my favorite are black and white or black and nude combinations.
This particular dress from Self-Portrait was definitely an investment (AKA why I bought it on sale), but there’s plenty of lace dresses out there and definitely one in your price range.
I’ve rounded up my favorite here and a handful are under $150, so you can still check off your holiday list for others. Oh yeah, forgot about them. Happy shopping!
