Gingham: Summer’s It Print Shopping Guide

When life gives you lemons, put them in a cute bag and put on a gingham dress. This picnic print is totally having a moment, so naturally I had to try it out myself. There’s something retro about gingham and honestly, you can’t help but feel happy when you’re wearing it. At least that’s how I feel.

Today I’m rounding up a ton of my favorite gingham pieces. From dresses to swimsuits and beyond, this print comes in so many different forms.

When it came to buying something gingham, I wanted a piece that I could wear over and over again this summer that I wouldn’t get sick of. So, I went with this airy gingham midi dress. It’s just over $100 and oh so cute. A lot of gingham comes in navy due to the pattern’s preppy nature, so I love that this dress is black and white. Those colors are a little more “me” so I felt more comfortable trying this print for the first time in a color palette that I already fully embrace. (If you’ve been following me for a long time then you know my key to trying new stuff is to keep one element of the new trend authentically YOU. Whether that’s the silhouette, fabric, color, etc. When you can be confident in one aspect of a new piece, it lets you be a little daring with another one.)

The midi silhouette of this dress is classic, but the little slit just above my waist keeps it modern. I’m always apprehensive about dresses with holes or cutouts because you never know where they will fall on your body. But I have to say that this hits me at a good spot and shows a little skin so I can embrace the crop top trend without it being too much. You totally can show your tummy while still being chic; you just have to know what works for you and what your confidence level is with it.

This dress made me feel very “Charmed goes to the farmer’s market” so I embraced the look by carrying around some lemons in a knit bag. Sure, it’s not real life, but it’s cute. You can get them so cheap on Amazon so it was a fun little change up from my normal purse. A straw bag would be totally cute here too, just saying.

I live in these Soludos espadrilles every summer, and this year won’t be any different. (Also another steal at just over $100!) This color and style is classic, so they won’t go out of style next year when you need to reach for your sandals. To top off this look (literally), I got a big old hat and lived my best life in it. BONUS: it’s packable in case you see this look and get the burning urge to pack this whole outfit and jet to Positano.

Do you have the gingham urge yet? Here’s a ton of stuff I love in this fun, darling print:
