Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and I’m sure a ton of red and pink outfits have been popping up all around you lately. Pink is my favorite color but I don’t own very many pink clothes. Red is fun but I prefer it on my lips instead of on a dress.
As much as I want to embrace the Hallmark holiday with its go-to girly shades, I also want to feel confident in my date night look. There’s nothing worse than not feeling great on a special occasion. So this Valentine’s Day I encourage you to ditch red and pink, and do you.
It’s no secret that I’m a fan of the jumpsuit and black, so it’s also kind of a no brainer that that’s what I’ll be wearing come February 14th. The trick to looking confident in anything you put on wearing a silhouette or color that you feel great in, then finding a unique detail that makes the item a little different than maybe what’s already hanging in your closet. For example, this date night jumpsuit, although black, features the most gorgeous lace detailing. It’s just girly enough for me but the black keeps it fresh. (I am wearing a size 4 and it runs TTS. I’m also 5’4” and found the length to be perfect; no hemming required so you can keep the lace hem!)
Like I said, I like red on my lips. My ultimate, all time favorite red lipstick is NARS in Jungle Red. It’s actually one of the first “fancy” lipsticks I’ve ever known and one of the only bold colors I wear. This one is semi-matte so it glides on and doesn’t leave your lips too dry like traditional matte lipsticks.
Finally – this beaded clutch with the heart. Can we talk about it? While I’m not into pink and red for V-day, I am a total sucker for fun accessories and this was too perfect for the holiday. Am I right? It’s Valentine’s Day appropriate but I plan on wearing this even after the holiday because it’s beaded and it’s cool. The clutch is by From St. Xavier and they have the coolest beaded bags. This particular one is just around $100 and honestly it looks a lot more expensive than it is IRL.
Matt and I always celebrate Valentine’s Day but we actually try to avoid dinner on the night of. We’ve found that our meals aren’t as good as regular nights. So I’ll rock this jumpsuit right around the holiday, but not on it. Plus, Los Angeles has a delightful way of cramming table on top of table so it’s not a great set up for conversation. Is that how it is in your city? How do you celebrate Valentine’s Day?
