Hi everyone! I am finally getting back into the swing of things now that I’m back from NYFW. It was a fun but busy trip and I hope to post a recap of everything soon. It was the most perfect fall weather over there; not too hot but not too cold. However, LA is still in summer mode so I quickly had to transition back to warm weather clothing.
About a month ago I shared my formula for easy weekend style and got so much love on the look and post, I decided to do a second, similar version.
Today I’m talking about casual weekend dresses and how to style them. At the end of the post you’ll see a handful of weekend dresses that I love. They are in easy jersey material and all under $100.
I love an easy dress on the weekend. To make sure I’m comfortable, I always reach for jersey-like materials that remind me of a worn-in t-shirt. This striped maxi has cute little slit detailing on the side so I don’t feel constricted, which I love. I don’t know if you can tell in these photos, but the material is ribbed and so up close the dress actually has a really nice texture in addition to the stripes.
You know I can’t resist wearing sneakers with dresses, and that’s exactly what I did here. To make things a little more interesting, I wrapped my favorite denim jacket around my waist. Since the dress is on the longer side, the blue denim breaks things up a bit. I’ve had this jacket for years (it’s from Madewell, not surprising) and they keep making it because it’s such a great blue wash. If you don’t want to wear something as heavy as a denim jacket around your waist, try a chambray shirt like this one.
I completed the look with this Rebecca Minkoff backpack. It holds everything and allows me to be hands free when I’m running errands and need to hold grocery bags, etc. They now make this backpack in nylon which is great if you’re worried about the leather getting scuffed.
