As someone who is always on the go, I’d like to think I know a thing or two about how to look put together in 5 minutes. I’m constantly running from the gym to work to an event, or the other way around. Therefore, it’s really important for me to be able to get out the door quickly while looking cute so that I’m ready for wherever I need to go next.
I’m quite impressed with the fact that I’ve learned how to run into the house and emerge moments later all cleaned up, so here’s my secret: the black jumpsuit. I like to think of these little guys as dresses on steroids. They’re chic and effortless, and similarly to a dress can be dressed up or down for any occasion.
My favorite way to wear a black jumpsuit is pairing it with a jean jacket like I am right here. (This Madewell denim jacket is the perfect shade of blue and literally goes with everything). If I wasn’t being so lazy I’d wear heels, but I wasn’t feeling them this day so wore flats. I’m partial to a black jumpsuit (I have them in tanks, short sleeve, long sleeve, etc) they looks adorable in prints come summer because they’re so easy breezy with a pair of sandals.
I always try to add a jacket to a jumpsuit because I think it gives it that little extra finishing touch. Full disclosure here, grab a jacket even if you aren’t going to wear it. Drape it over your shoulders or simply over your arm. See examples below. Maybe it’s my imagination, but a jacket always seems to complete every outfit I wear, so the same rule applies here.
Since you’re already set in the clothing department, this means you have to worry less about your hair. I’m serious. A bun with a jumpsuit? Fab. Okay go! You’re already late.
This exact jumpsuit is from Aritiza and they don’t carry it anymore, but here are some other versatile black jumpsuits on my wishlist:
To me, a black jumpsuit is definitely a closet staple. It’s modern and edgy while still being classy; you can run out the door wearing Converse sneakers with it one day and heels the next. On days when I’m feeling lazy or just out of outfit ideas, this trusty jumper never seems to fail me.
