Happy April everyone! It seems like we all may finally be out of the dark in terms of weird March weather and well on our way to warmer temps. Hooray!
Every spring, the one thing I’m always missing from my closet is a lightweight trench to help me transition between brisk mornings, the work day, and a chilly evening. This year, I finally found the most PERFECT spring khaki trench from Madewell – and I’m going to wear it all season.
I’m only 5’4″ and so sometimes longer silhouettes can look a bit off on me. This was not the case here. As you can see, it hits just at my knee so it’s really easy to pair with other items to keep the proportions right. I shot this in NYC when it was windy and cold, but this khaki trench would also look cute over a mini skirt or a short shift dress like this one.
P.S. I want to let you in on a little secret here. I’m actually wearing an XS men’s waffle knit sweater from Everlane in this photo because I’d been looking for one forever any couldn’t find any crewneck women’s styles. If it works it works, right? It’s also cashmere, and for $145 the price was a lot cheaper than most women’s versions, too!
I can’t wait to show you more outfits with this little guy! There’s no hood on this style, so I guess it kind of defeats the purpose of “April showers bring May flowers,” but I don’t think I’ll really be needing a hood in Southern California anyway. Plus, there’s nothing an umbrella can’t fix.
I wore it open and unbelted, but it does have a belt in case you want to tie it for that classic trench look. Shop some of my faves below!
