Getting Out of a Date Night Outfit Rut

It’s time to get a little serious here. I’ve been in a date night outfit rut ever since the holidays, and haven’t put much effort into going out with Matt on the weekends. If we do go out, I’ve definitely been guilty  to ask if sweatpants were acceptable – and we usually ended up at a really low key places where they absolutely were.

Don’t get me wrong, I love a laid back dinner where you can just order at the counter. With Valentine’s Day tomorrow, I realized I need to stop slacking on my date night attire, not just for the holiday, but in general.

In my other post, I mentioned that we aren’t big V-day people just because I think everyone puts too much pressure on the day; how you need to have a Valentine, do some over-the-top gesture, and go to an amazing dinner. It’s fun to go out, but I’m a big believer in celebrating love beyond February 14. Unfortunately I’ve just been wanting to do it in my Lululemon pants.

This easy date night outfit was literally as as simple as throwing on a pair of heels and switching my jacket from denim to leather. It instantly gave me life without having to completely rethink my entire outfit. I’m a sucker for jeans and a t-shirt and making these 2 changes to what I was already wearing was game-changing. I recommend a black pointed toe pump because black instantly dresses up whatever you’re already wearing. Plus, black  goes with everything.

Also, can we just take a quick minute to pause and talk about this BLANK NYC jacket I’m wearing here? Usually leather jackets cost SO much (although worth the investment!). This one is less than $200 and real suede with a lined interior. It also feels like a million bucks. If brown isn’t your thing, it’s also available in burgundy, slate blue, and a bunch of other colors at Nordstrom. (click here to see them all).

Next time you can’t be bothered to completely change your outfit after a long week of work, don’t! Just throw on a pair of goes-with-everything heels, a leather jacket, and go! So long, rut!

    1. Thank you Emmahlyn! I am beyond obsessed with this jacket. Real suede and under $200 is a major steal in my book! Hope you had a nice Valentine’s Day!
