Hola! I just got home from Mexico a few days ago and figured there was no time like the present to talk about the beauty travel essentials I pack in my carry-on. I always try to take a carry-on only because I don’t like baggage claim or fees when flying. Therefore, it’s really important to pack the right TSA-friendly beauty options when I’m not checking anything.
Here are my essentials when you’re packing like a minimal pro.
I rarely wear makeup on the plane unless I have to go somewhere important immediately after landing. A flight is the perfect opportunity to let your skin breath. The only thing I ever do pre-flight is my eyebrows. I use Glossier Boy Brow to enhance them a bit without a full face of makeup. I also carry this tinted lip balm by Eve Lom. It hydrates my lips while I’m in the air but then serves as a color for the duration of my trips.
Dermalogica makes a travel size spray toner that I like to spritz on my face. It’s really hydrating for a mid-flight refresh. I spray this a couple of times while up in the air and I swear it really makes a difference in my skin retaining moisture. It’s also great pick-me-up when I want to wake myself up after I land.
I always pack at least one sheet mask to recover and hydrate my skin post-flight. I love these sheet masks by Karuna because they revitalize your skin in about 20 minutes. I like to throw one on right after I get into my room while unpacking. My skin looks instantly brighter. (Tip – these are particularly perfect for weekend trips involving weddings, when you want to look radiant and not tired from traveling.)
I always try travel sizes of my skin care faves so that I can keep up my skin care regimen on vacation. I have combination skin so if I go one day paying slightly less attention to my face, it’s really obvious. Purchasing travel sizes of my everyday essentials ensures I don’t skip my nighttime routine. This makeup melting oil Precleanse by Dermalogica requires special packaging, but if I can’t find travel sizes, I’ll buy little jars and pour product into them. This travel set from The Container Store or this one from Flight 001 are both perfect. Just be sure to label so you don’t end up using moisturizer as shampoo.
After I make sure my skin care routine is in check for travel, then I can start worrying about the fun stuff – makeup! I always snatch up kits like this makeup palette from Charlotte Tilbury. Makeup palettes make traveling so easy, and this way I don’t have to worry about a bunch of clutter and a ton of products. The only other things I pack are mascara and some tweezers.
So there you have it – my favorite beauty travel essentials that are carry-on friendly. I’m happy to say that I won’t be traveling again until mid-August. At least not for now. 🙂
